Great Quote!

“Firewalking or bending metal may have little utilitarian value, but phenomena of this sort can break through the stranglehold classical scientific and religious thought have placed on our self-images and personal possibilities.”

I attended a 4 hour Firewalking Seminar by Tolly Burkan in upstate New York in 1990. After reading numerous books on philosophy and religion for twenty years I thought I’d find out what this mind/body/reality connection was all about!
There were about 50 people attending from a variety of backgrounds and Tolly kept the atmosphere light and friendly with personal discussions, group singing and simple experiences of breaking through our limiting beliefs.
Tolly explained his theories about the power of intention and attention and compared firewalking with any goal invested with extreme determination and desire.
When Tolly raked out the pile of burning coals to form a glowing orange path I was transfixed – this was real! As he and others walked across the beautiful bright path my mind was divided; this was truly impossible, yet this was truly happening. I waited until the last moment and walked. The coals were hot, like hot beach sand in the middle of the day, but I didn’t sense any harm to my feet!
Later I discovered, as if to confirm the reality of it, a small blister under one of my toes. Still, I had direct experience of a seemingly impossible act; my view of the universe, and my place in it, was forever changed. We have immeasurable power to shape and change our reality – to live in alignment with the power and awe of being alive!
I went to the Firewalking Training after that in Oregon for two weeks of training and certification. Honestly, though, there are easier, and much less intimidating methods, for learning about facing our fears and creating the life we want. But, for those considering Firewalking I highly recommend a skilled or certified teacher.

I am a certified firewalk instructor living in Chicago and would be happy to discuss the details of putting together an event. I was trained by Peggy Dylan, the same woman who trained Tony Robbins and recently did a firewalk on Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer.
I guarantee that if you firewalk you will never forget the experience as long as you live.

getting in shape, learning the old ways, becoming worthy
Is there a place or organization in the central US that does this sort of thing?

Firewalking was truly an awesome experience. I did it just once and am thankful that I did, but now have absolutely no desire or need to do it again.

First did this in 1990 – and 6 or 7 times since. Just thinking about it gets me back in PEAK STATE! Wow! Something everyone should do at least once!

I can’t explain it. But I did it. I was terrified. The support and energy of the group I was with was so powerful. The important thing is to use it as symbolic for any goal in your life; anything that you fear. I am not a particularly courageous person, I don’t seek thrills through danger, I don’t push myself to achieve but now? I feel like I could do anything, I really do.
