Find out whether the "stray" cat I've been feeding for the last 2 weeks has a home

Another Garfield pic 2 years ago

Here’s another photo of the handsome lad.

Garfield 2 years ago

Here is a photo of the “stray” cat (who is a stray no longer). Now that he has a proper home he’s been given a proper name to go with it – Garfield.

He’s turned out to be a total catnip addict. Most cats will sniff, lick, kick, rub against catnip toys for about 15 minutes and then lose interest. Not Garfield – he’ll do the stuff with a catnip toy for about 3 hours non-stop, and then go to sleep with his head on it like a pillow!

Gingie is fine! 2 years ago

A neighbour came to my door today with the cat in tow & asked if he was my cat. Seems the little guy doesn’t have a permanent home but does have several human “friends” who feed him & let him into their homes! The man said that Gingie had been in his flat lying in front of the fire & had stayed there, indoors through the nights. He’s happy to look after Gingie though seems to think of Gingie as a visitor coming and going as he pleases rather than as his own cat.

I’m so relieved!! I still think he could do with a check up though. It’s very hard to even guess at how old he is. From his bright eyes & his playfulness he seems fairly young. Yet his coat is a bit ruffled and he is so thin like a much older cat, though that could be because of his rough living.

I’m marking this as done but that doesn’t mean that there’s no more to do. I’m going to keep my eyes open to make sure Gingie continues to be ok. I may come to an arrangement with the man about taking Gingie for a check-up.

Gingie - stray cat or not? 2 years ago

(Note: the pic isn’t Gingie but looks a lot like him – a plumper version.)

Sun 6 May:
For the last 2 weeks I’ve been feeding a very thin, long-haired, ginger cat who I’m sure is a stray (but I’m not certain). He’s affectionate, playful, hungry & has the sniffles a bit, sneezes every so often, has some fur matts on his rump & chest. He’s also a beautiful looker & he has bright eyes & a cold wet nose. I call him “Gingie”. Recently he’s been in my garden almost all the time yet he always disappears at night. I phoned the vet & she suggested I bring him in for a check up & to see if he has a microchip. I was planning to do that on Monday (tomorrow).

Last night the rain lashed down for ages & today there’s been no sign of him. I’m worried. What I could really use right now is news that he’s not lying under a bush somewhere with pneumonia but has found a home (or some other warm, dry place indoors with lots of food & love).
