How I did it: The short version of it is that my grandfather died and, on the day of his Wake, I was pretty much on edge due to the backbiting and cat fighting already occurring with some members of my family who then tried to pull me into it. The stress had gotten so bad, that I actually didn't get sleep the night prior and filled my time with watching instructional videos on the Knitting Help website to calm me. After a few hours, I picked up on how … Read how I did it…
How I did it: On a train, to and from Washington DC. I knit, I knit, I screwed up and undid a few rows, and I knit some more. I plugged in headphones to ignore my annoying seatmates and knit. Occasionally they would make a comment on my progress and I politely nodded, smiled, made some small talk, but continued to knit all the while. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I took a basic knitting class and after one session and endless practice swatches, I was ready. I just did the basics on the first one- then I discovered fun fur, and knitted one in every color they have, so much fun. Read how I did it…
How I did it: My first suggestion would be to use yarn that you LOVE. You have to love the feel, the color, the texture. Cast on a few stictches (12 or 15) and use needles in a size that is larger. I suggest using a 10 or 11. You don't want to go too big, sometimes that is hard to hold in your hands. On the other side, if you go too small, then you might get frustrated with the amount of time it takes to see any results. Read how I did it…

How I did it: A beautiful varigated 1x1 rib knit scarf for Mom. A friend's mother taught me the basic stitches and KnittingHelp.com offered some great videos with additional help. The knitting was soothing and a great way to relax at the end of the day and spawned an addictive new hobby! Read how I did it…

achterbahn is flying up to see C!! and is therefore super excited.
I tried once, knitting is so hard! I think it’s too much for me, as an absolute perfectionist. We shall see! I might go get my mum to re-teach me how to knit…

Each time I climbed on my stationary bike I knit an inch or two of my scarf. Eventually it was done! As a bonus, exercising seemed much easier and more fun that way.

this goals been up for a while and it’s summer soon…
i know…i’ll make a summer throw over/blanket?
argh….but i shall do it…even if it’s a lil old square.
I made such a good start on this goal, getting my grandmother to sit down and tutor me in the finer arts of a simple stitch, and then I just fizzled. The thing is, winter is almost upon us, and I think it would be so neat to be able to wear something that I actually made. Perhaps I’ll try and do ten more rows tonight (and hope that I haven’t forgotten how).
... for my sister. I embellished the fringing with little pink beads!

and mailed it to my friend for a late birthday present. I hope she likes it…I’ve not heard one way or the other. The next scarf is for another friend, the one after that is for my niece, and the one after that is for ME!
This is just procrastination at this point. I have the materials and everything, just need to learn the technique now.
My first scarf was playing around with yarn and the needles. It is so relaxing and amazing to see your finished product!
I decided not too long ago to knit a scarf for someone who is really special to me. I’ve been going at it for weeks, minutes at a time, but I’m nowhere close to finishing since I don’t have that much time to spend on it.
Hopefully I’ll accomplish this task soon.
