Make my room *MY* room

I got home from school a few weeks ago, looked around my room, and just decided I was going to do something about it. I moved a ton of stuff around, hung up all the paintings and posters and things my friends have made for me (we’re a pretty artistic group), brought in all my movies and CD’s and books that I’d stashed away for some reason, hung up some new pictures and artwork I’d taken/made, put up some cute string lights, hung up this giant map of NYC, and took a ton of old CD’s and lined the tops of my walls with them so that whenever the sun shines in I get pretty rainbows across my walls. (: It took a while, but I’m pretty satisfied with the way it turned out. It deff feels like it’s really MINE now. :D

I’m finally done with it, and it’s amazing how painting the walls, adding a border, and moving the furniture can change a whole room around. It still confuses me a little when I walk in, because it seems like a completely different room now. But I sure love it, and I probably won’t change it for a while ;)

I am quite proud of myself, since I finally got up and moved all the furniture out of my room. And for two days, I have been painting like crazy, for a really annoying reason: The paint, which was supposed to be red, turned out to be a darker shade of pink when combined with the white wall.
Those who know me will immediately remember that I hate the colour pink with a passion. I made sure to ask for a colour that would be red on my white walls, but obviously, someone made a mistake.
However, after 8 hours of hard work, about 5 layers of paint, and several cramps in my arms, my bedroom is now finally red. And because of all the work being put into de-pinking my bedroom, I immediately cancelled the idea of painting this computerroom for this weekend. I will probably pick a different colour for this room anyway, because it needs to be darkened a little.
So, all there’s left to do now is sticking a border on my walls and then moving back in. And that will finally give me the opportunity to get rid of all the things piling up in my room which I don’t need.

My mother baught the paint, sponges, tape, and brushes about six weeks ago, but I’ve just been too busy (or lazy ^^) to get started on the job. The whole painting should take about two days, because I have two small rooms and I need to move a lot of furniture.
Next weekend will be a long one, because we have Friday off. Hopefully I’ll be able to push myself enough.
I went to Value Village today and baught lots of nice decoration. I will probably move somethings around as well and try to do something creative to cover my walls.
Maybe I can even get on it tomorrow…

I cleaned out my closet last night & today and threw away a bunch of crap and today I went to walmart to pick up material to make new curtains BUT of course they didnt have the color I want because they are selling all of it half off because theyre moving the store around so Im gonna have to wait till they get more. Grr, what we have to go though just to decorate our bedrooms. Oh and I got a floor lamp so my giant lamp isnt taking up my desk space anymore and my new one actually LIGHTS up my room. :}

First, little Rica needs a job to get the required money for such a project. Then, she will need her mother’s permission to paint the room a different colour. Then, she needs a free weekend to do all this, since she does not have one, but two little rooms to repaint, rearrange, and redecorate.
And, finally, little Rica will have to get over her laziness and actually DO IT! :)

It’s not much, but it’s a start!

There’s only so much you can do to a room that doesn’t involve painting or anything permanent (we rent so everything I do has to involve blue tack).
