I feel crabby if I don’t get in the water 2-3 times a week. I just got back from a week traveling and swam laps or lengths 3 times a week during the trip. I’m hooked and this is done.

I was swimming 1-2 times per week. I did manage one swim at the beach, but this week I wound up with a cold and didn’t have it in me to swim. So, I’m not there yet on this one.

swimming is looking very promising, and I am now swimming outdoors which is awesome. Plans to swim across the channel in 2010 as part of a relay, and have 2009 plans to swim Lake Windermere and Coniston Water. Trying to go to the pool too. Hope to have some beach camping weekends with lots of swimming and playing with my dog, and a week up in scotland. Have joined the Outdoor Swimming Society and had my first front crawl lesson with none other than Cassie Patton, Olympic outdoor swimmer!! Swam in a lido in London…blooming marvelous!

Tink is pleased with her progress.
...as rolling it into my “Get more exercise” goal.
Because the plantar fasciitis in my feet has calmed down, I no longer need to restrict myself to swimming. And because I lost my job last September, I gave up my membership in the pricey downtown gym with the high-in-the-sky pool.
Swimming can now be just one of my exercise modes – and probably an infrequent one, as long as my preferred modes are accessible/possible. I just don’t enjoy merely swimming lengths. I’m vastly more motivated to exercise when it feels like fun (e.g., dancing or bowling) or at least can be combined with another activity that is fun (e.g., listening to music, watching TV, chatting with a walking partner, or learning Spanish from podcasts I’ve downloaded onto my mp3 player).

Today I could have gone swimming after work but I went straight home instead. I don’t know what to do really. Work tires me so much – I was yawning at 3pm! I might try to think of it as a relaxing activity rather than strenuous exercise.

I get a free swim pass. I signed for it today so hopefully I’ll get it soon and can start swimming, for free! I’m really excited about this. I need to do some exercise.

Let's do it!

I went swimming with a friend today, nothing serious just hanging out, treading water, and doing a couple laps. This is of course, after I did my Couch 2 5k Week 3 Day 1 workout. I hate running, but I realized I kind of like swimming so maybe that will be a more fun way to get in shape… Yeah, yeah I’ll continue c25k.

I have been doing this, but I fear that if I remove it from the list when given the option of sewing curtains and swimming, I might sew.
