Hi Stormygirl
Have you found people who chant in Sydney yet? There is a group called SGI, it’s a buddhist group. You can google it. All it’s members chant.
I’ve began chanting about a month ago. I read a statement about ‘stuff floating up’. I think that chanting is not only helping to cultivate the positive attributes within, but it is also forcing me to look at and to face some of the negative, ingrained behaviors that I have used to cope with life- none of which have proved effective! The crap that I have held on to amazes me. Even though I know it is ‘crap’ I tend to want to hold on to it…maybe that is why at first, the disipline to chant is so difficult- it is asking you to change these things, it is asking you to let go so that you may have peace.
Chanting is definitely worth devoting energy to- after all it is devoting pure energy to yourself. Peace be to everyone!

Just wanted to clarify that riding my horse brings me a great deal of joy and I don’t regret riding him…I just regret not waking up early enough to do both : )

Yay – I have joined you guys!
I am on my way to achieving this goal. I am very new to the practice and have not yet received my Gohonzon but I am very excited about the Nichiren practice.
Yesterday I chanted for 30 mins morning and evening and felt AMAZING, this morning I didn’t wake up early enough to chant and ride my horse and so I chose horseriding and my day is not even half as joyful as yesterday. I am going to chant at lunchtime.
I don’t even know anyone else in Sydney practising Nichiren – anyone out there?
I really want to chant, wanna try it out dat iz really effective or not?,but i dunno hw n whr to start from?,Kindly suggest me..Thx
