If money wasn’t an issue (yeah right, I know :)) I want a big family. I want children of my own and also would like to adopt :) Everyone needs a good home :)
How to adopt a baby
How I did it: For many years, I told anybody anytime I got the chance that I hoped to adopt someday- finally one of my friends called with a lead- a mom whose C-section was scheduled in just two weeks whose adoption plans had unraveled. The mom and I talked on the phone that day, and about 10 days later I was at my daughter's birth, filming and crying and so excited.
It was hard watching my baby's birth mom say good-bye to her, but she told me not to cry, and we all have a good relationship. I have since, as a midwife, caught two babies with the adoptive moms present at the births. I think adoption, especially open adoption, if it is possible (sometimes it isn't), is just great. I always wondered if I could love "someone else's" child as much as "my own". Now I know- she is my own, and I love all my children so deeply it defies reason.
Lessons & tips: Don't hesitate to try and breastfeed your adopted baby- there are all kinds of resources out there for induced lactation, and it is good for both of you, even if you are only able to partially nurse.
Resources: Adoption books, Medela's Lactaid system

i know i am only 18 but i want to get a head start i dont want my child (whether it be by adoption or me giving birth) to think i am their grandmother i see all these women and they are in their 40’s and they have a newborn or same with ladies in their 30’s i dont mind waiting till in my later 20 but i dont want to wait to long.
I want to participate in a domestic adoption. That means a child from the US, not china, or the UK or something like that. Also, I want him or her to be a mixed race child. In the state of Alabama, children that are born with mixed race are considered “special needs” children. In my opinion, it isn’t their fault, any of the kids of any race. Red and Yellow, black, and white, they are all precious in his sight!

Adopting a child isn’t something that a lot of couples choose to do. This goal definitely may not be accomplished because it has to wait until I’m married, and it depends on what my husband wants as well.
The reason why I would want to adopt a child as well as have one of my own is, selfishly, because it’s one less time that I would have to go through labour.
In addition, though, there are too many people on this planet as it is, so I may as well do my part and give a pre-existing child a home. The child might have a better life because of that, as I know that my younger adopted cousin has had.
I would want to adopt it as a baby, though, so that I can raise it myself as much as possible :)
I had a foster child in my class, and I decided to adopt her instead. She is eight now, and I’m so glad I did it!
luckbealauren everything in moderation including moderation.
I want to have children of my own as well, but I’ve been certain for quite some time now that I want to adopt. I’d like to adopt a baby from less fortunate beginnings and hope I can give it a good enough life to earn all the love and joy I know I would receive in return.
to have my own children but also to adopt a girl from China. I’m Chinese myself, and am so fortunate to live the lifestyle that I have. I’m third generation here and am so grateful for what I have. But it’s important for me to give back and giving one more person a chance at a better life is something that I want to accomplish. By adopting a girl from China would make me feel so blessed knowing that I’m helping a child in need. I still have awhile…I’m only in my early twenties, and not even in a stable relationship, something I want to accomplish before having children, but someday, when I’m a bit older.
