flutter is full of wonder and watching God work
I have it running as a dual OS along with my windows
problem is… I can’t get it to work right
I can’t get on the internet with it
and now there says there is a systems failure sigh
How I did it: I got an Ubuntu live CD and popped it in my computer and rebooted. It booted up in Ubuntu, and I had fun tinkering with all the non-Windowsy things. Then after I got comfortable enough with it, I clicked on the little "install" icon on the desktop, and the program walked me through everything. Easy as pie!
Lessons & tips: Ubuntu is *really* easy to start with.

I’m about ready to install linux on my laptop
I’m installing it over windows for the present time and will be running with a dual OS. That way I can get use to it and still have a fall back if I need it for awhile.
we’ll see how my bright idea works.. lol

I would go on line and learn how to use this operating system before I bought my new laptop. I think this will give me two advantages
1. it will let me know how I like Linux in the first place and give me an idea if that is what I really do want. If it’s not, I may even decide on I different laptop.
2. it will make a more smooth transition if I do switch upon getting a new laptop. I’m just too busy to be down for a few day because I’m having to learn and am stumbling around a whole new system.
then .. if linux is not what I want I haven’t lost anything and can just go on using Windows
Kylia Excited for the work week!
I just switched to Linux tonight. I don’t know how to do much, but already like it more than Windows
at least I’m messing about with LaTex and stuff. I don’t know when I can mark this goal done though, since I’m still not exactly an expert- I really need to start having goals with more tangible aims so I know when they’re done…
Learning Linux was a pain in the past, but not anymore. The newer distros (short for “distributions”) are very user-friendly. I used Ubuntu, and found it extremely easy – even more easier than windows. There is an initial learning curve, however, and I was amazed to get instant help at Ubuntu forums. Those guys rock!
I was using linux for almost everything, including instant messaging, email, web browsing, school homework, and photo editing. I even made a website on linux using NVU – a free HTML editor, and that was fun!
I’m now using MacBook for most of my work, but use Ubuntu for hosting websites.
I bought a copy of “Teach Yourself Linux” which has helped quite a lot with this goal. I can now basically find my way around the operating system, though I am not gonna be sysadmin for a while yet :p
Currently realising the joy and the pain that is LaTeX. Gonna write my thesis in this, need to get good at it! It IS very logical… but unforgiving of mistakes :D
Think I will learn a bit more before I mark this goal “done” but I am progressing :)
I use Ubuntu as my operating system, and I am perfectly capable of changing and interacting with it on a regular basis. I’ve become very comfortable looking up instructions or information about anything I don’t know, and with Linux in general.
Hooray!
