How I did it: I started back in 2001. I even did my friends. Then, in 2005, I had the drive crash and I had to do it again.. Now I back-up on a schedule.

I’m doing the Cd’s in the U, V, W, X, Y, Z and the 123’s. I’m also listing them on Record Nerd as I’m doing them as well. :)
Eventually they’ll all be ripped and listed on there and I’ll have deleted any duplicate mp3’s on my hard drive too.

I’ve started by organising them into alphabetical order at least. I need to replace some it would seem as well.
My aim is a few letters of the alphabet a week. That includes listing them on record nerd as well. :P
Definitely one of the more exhausting undertakings that I have ever done, but sooo worth it.
Tigerman is an INFP, ISTJ, ISFP, ENTP... depending on the day of testing
I started this long ago of course, when iTunes was still new, but recently i found the last few CDs i had missed in my big 200 CD changer. That poor thing makes all sorts of grunty noises while changing CDs, MP3s are soo much better and faster to find and play. Of course, getting a large LaCie external hard drive helped give me the space to rip them all. And I simply uncheck the songs i don’t want to hear often.
I got 5 done this weekend. I’m not in a rush but it will be nice to have them all on MP3.
What app do you use to rip your CDs, and what format do you convert them to?
I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I think I am going to get to it soon. There are a lot of CDs I have that take up a lot of space but I just don’t listen to them. At least if I put them all on a had drive I can clean up some space in the house. I just want to make sure I can back them up first.
