Give away 43 things I don't need

We had a street party yesterday, with a table for exchanging books, toys, and other miscellany.

I took a stack of about 8 books (that I’d been hanging onto, convinced I would list them on craigslist and make enough to retire) and didn’t see any I liked myself, so it was a one-way thing.

I also took two of the kids’ old toys, which were picked up quickly by a mother of a 1yo. Although I have to admit I did pick up a new Mickey Mouse backpack on the way home.

Inspired by a visit to the home of an acquaintance (who said, before I got there, “oh, you’ll have to forgive the mess, I haven’t been home to clean”) which was PRISTINE (as in… does anyone even live there?), I am trying to purge, organise, and clean this weekend. I’m not good at any of those things, but I’m doing my best.

1. Two large heavy mugs that were gifts, so I hate to give them away, but they just weren’t the shape/style I like for tea, coffee, or hot chocolate.
2. Two packs of tea towels.
3. A pair of twice-worn, very cool, but uncomfortable-for-me shoes.
4. Five books and a dvd movie. Happy Father’s Day, dad!
5. Two shirts.
6. Some kids’ stuffed animals and toys. I know, it’s not fair for me to list their things on my giveaway list, but it’s painful for me to let them go, so I’m giving myself credit here. Included here is a large outdoor climber and slide that they just don’t use as much as I thought they would.

Today I gave away 22 things!

Well, I think it’s safe to say that this is done. Although I didn’t keep track of all of the items I gave away, we sent 2 dump truck loads of our stuff to Good Will this weekend. There had to be well over 43 things in there!

...so this should be easy!

I was wondering if I should count this as 3 separate items, or even if I should count the individual items of clothing as separate, but I’m in a giving mood, so I’ll count it all as one.
