be elegant

It turns elegant is not in the clothes your wearing or the jewelry you’ve got on. It’s the attitude. It is entirely possible to be elegant in jeans and a t-shirt.
I realized this the other night when going out to dinner with my husband to a very nice place. I was in a jersey dress and high heels, and yet it was my _attitude that made the whole thing work. I didn’t have pantyhose because the bastards had ripped at some point and I didn’t discover it until I tried to put them on. So there I was, bare-legged, and throwing off more charm than a leprechaun’s cereal. There’s a lot to be said for being at ease in your own skin before doing something like that. I think if I _had walked in wearing jeans and a t-shirt and smiled the same way, acted the same way, they might very well have acted the same way towards me.
I also now know that it is not something you have to be all the time. You can be moody or cranky or have a bad hair day and it doesn’t mean you’re _not. It just means you don’t want to be right now. That goes a long way to making somebody feel pretty damn good about themselves. :) 2 months ago
