but what about Beautifulpeople? — 1 year ago
i struggle with this when it comes to people who are hardcore beautiful on the outside – as in “hello i have skinny-pants and big sunglasses and i look i just stepped out of a trashy women’s magazine”. I’ve never considered myself one of the Beautifulpeople and have always struggled with a jealousy issue in this area of my life. I tend to write them off as superficial and not worth getting to know because of a stereotype in my head of what these people tend to be like (sadly, i’m not always wrong).
so if i’m looking for the beauty in everyone, i tend to get a little put off by these people because their beauty is right there and they’re usually slapping you in the face with it in the way they dress, speak, carry themselves and generally behave.
so – if someone has grown up being really-really-good-looking (coughzoolandercough) and as a result they’ve been treated a certain way and they define themselves by the way they look and they consider that to be a really significant thing in their lives and maybe they lack some depth and personal development as a result, what key things am i looking for when i try to see the ‘real’ beauty in these people?
maybe it’s innocence? if they’ve had it fairly easy then maybe their childlike-innocence-type view of the world is preserved? i’m aware that a LOT of Beautifulpeople are a lot more than that and i do need to remember that more often.
work in progress…
