learn to hand quilt

I just have to put a border on and I’ll be done with the piecing for my first quilt. But I probably won’t get back to it again until autumn, when the gardening is done.

I started reading the quilting book I bought this winter. Man, this is a whole different world. You have to know about fabric weight, and what color threads to use, and even give special consideration to needle types. The coolest thing: I have to go out and buy a thimble. I never knew anyone who ever used a thimble. I may have to wear it to the office and at various social events to show it off. In fact, I may even need two thimbles.

Uh-oh, let’s not make this all about the toys now. The surest way to ruin any pursuit, in my experience, is to get caught up on the toys involved. OK, scratch the thimble wearing to gallery openings. I think.
