ma n i have planted potatoes, strawberries and tomatoes. we have a huge list of vegetables, herbs and flowers. once we get our green house up and accomplish the list. i have completed my goal :)
How to start a vegetable garden
How I did it: went over to Canadian Tire's greenhouse and bought some soil, tomato plants, zucchini plants, watermelon plants and some bean seeds. Dug some holes in the garden area in the backyard and now I'm just waiting for yummy veggies!! ...and some watermelon :)
Lessons & tips: Don't plant too early... I thought I'd be safe but there is supposed to be frost this weekend....
Resources: My brother-in-law, the landscaper, told me to plant angelonia flowers around my veggies as a way to keep deer out!

Must learn more about organic gardening… I don’t want to use any pesticides. Will study this winter in preparation for lots of yummy veggies next summer!

I bought the organic seeds on the weekend! Great ready to plant!
They are growing in pretty nicely. But not ready to be harvested. Next attempt, tomatoes.
My tomatoes look amazing. And my little pepper plant is growing. The herbs look good. But I still haven’t gotten around to planting the radishes. Maybe I’ll just hold off on all the seed plants until January.
Attended class. Learned a lot. Feeling more confident. Also got 4 more types of tomatoes, and one sweet pepper plant.
Tomatoes and herbs look good. Still haven’t planted the seeds with the kids. Need more soil, and to put some holes in the bottom of two containers. Taking a class on Saturday about veggie gardening, figured I’d wait until after that.
Mixing up the sand we already have with the organic soil we got. Trying to aerate it a bit. It rained this morning on my tomato plants.
Bought 5 containers and soil and seeds today. Haven’t done anything with them yet, because we’re still figuring out where in the yard will get the most sunlight.
I also bought 3 different types of tomato plants and put those in individual pots. Did the same with spearmint, basil and curly parsley.
Didn’t really have the kids help me with this. I need to suss out how growing some veggies works, and then I’ll be more confident to let them “help.”
