not uni,but I start a new job in 2 weeks. After 9months I get a certificate 3 in tourism.
If I enjoy the new career, I’ll think about a relevant masters. At the moment Uni seems a little unnecessary.
How to go back to uni
How I did it: I had put off my dream career as a primary school teacher for a more "glamorous" career as a graphic designer. After 4yrs of study (which I learnt i didn't have the passion for in the 2nd yr) and 5 yrs of work (still passionless), I finally took the plunge!
I applied, waited, tossed up all my options and when I finally received an offer I knew it was the right decision. Now I'm going to get my Masters!!
Lessons & tips: My advice is if you've ever wanted to go back to uni or change your career, then do it! It's never too late to make that change!
Resources: Do some soul searching - what will make you happy (personal satisfaction) vs what you think will make you happy (high paying job).
Research the courses and uni's, and find out the employment market for that career.
Find out the cut off dates for applications and just apply!

TamTaro is saying YES
I have always wanted to go back to uni and do primary school teaching. I’ve already applied to go back and am just waiting to see if I get in. I think its important to keep your brain stimulated and learn new things. I want to finally do what I want to do, even if it means low pay and low chance of career advancement Hopefully the payoff will be personal satisfaction and happiness =)
Fingers crossed!!
screwyourselfup yep
Thinking seriously about doing a graduate diploma in information management. It’s only a year, and it means i will be a qualified librarian. so my thinking is i might as well do it, rather than stay still.
So I put in my UAC applicatoin this week.
fingers crossed.
will be back at uni in 2010 I hope!
I am thinking of enroling in a TAFE course. This will be a first step towards uni.
I have enquired at CSU about a degree in Library Science. They have sent me a prospectus and information pack. Before I can apply, I am going to have to sit the STAT test and maybe do a Tertiary Prep course. So that is the next step I need to take.
i have a few ideas but not specific enough to actually enrol! will definitely keep this on my list coz the kids will be at school soon enough and i don’t wanna do what i was doing before…hmm
Well, this was always going to be worth doing so in a way it was a bit redundant to put it on the 43 things list. I say this after my third full day of the MPharm, it is already a full-on chockers course (>30 contact hours choke cough splutter)so perhaps by the time exams roll around this goal will have changed to “not worth doing”
