Secrets of the cosmos 7 months ago

My grandfather gave me his telescope on my birthday last year, but I’ve not yet found the time to use it with all the other things I am doing. I need to take the telescope out of the city to the country house, calibrate it, and then try some stargazing. It would be extra fun to do this with some of my friends.

Stargazing is as old as man, and has taught us many things about ourselves and our world. Life would indeed be poor and incomplete if I did not take the chance to be humbled and awed by the stars myself.

The Moon 10 months ago

Recently, well like 2 weeks ago. I saw Venus and Jupiter. It was an amazing sight. As I saw the moon last week when it was the cloest the the earth. I saw the reminders of yahoo news.
I was all just really neat, and relaxing to just look up at the night sky.

I just need to stop and enjoy the simple things in life, like stars!

So worth it 21 months ago

I’ve started doing this very regularly over the last few months and it has a great calming effect on me. You, or at least I, get this overwhelming feeling of quiet and smallness and I can’t really explain what I mean but its a wonderful feeling. I’ve seen a lot of falling stars and I can immediately identify multiple constellations that I couldn’t a few months ago. Very well worth it. I can’t wait to get a telescope and look a little closer.

Comet 17P/Holmes remains a striking target for binoculars, small telescopes, and even the unaided eye. Take the time to see this unusual visitor, which
leapt from obscurity to celebrity October 23.

Star gazing 2 years ago

Tonight was the perfect night to star gaze. It was a little chilly, but the sky was so clear. And beautiful. I looked up in the sky and realized there is a whole world out there that I have never once thought about. A whole world full of things that I may never see.
I was happy in that one moment. The stars made me glad for life. love. everything I take for granted.

Now I notice Venus every night when I walk out my back door 2 years ago

Now that we live in the country, my husband the science geek has gotten me into telescopes and looking at the stars and the sky. It’s amazing! Look at the moon, unreal!! We watched the Geminids meteor shower with our daughter over the winter. Amazing. It’s really worth doing and learning more about the sky… we never look up there. We should, and wonder, and be fascinated.
