God, H.A. Rey’s “The Stars: A New Way to See Them” was an amazing book to have around the house as a child. And I went through this phase hardcore-ish (arc-to-arcturus, speed-to-spica, curve-to-corvus sort of thing, sketching the moon outside in horrible city light with a pair of old binoculars, etc. etc.,) and I’d like to get it back. It’s about as good as it ever was in terms of general orientation/the state of my sky map, but I’d really, really like to fill out my in-head map of the night sky, but a cheap pair of binocs for myself, a decent star chart, find the other two volumes of Burnham’s Celestial Handbook used…and know my way around the sky. And live in a place where the night sky is available.
Guess that’s why I had to sum it up in one thing.
