So I did take the camera into the shop; turns out the darn thing is broken in a forever sense. Sad, but at least I got around to finally doing it.

How I did it: Well, my camera was going to cost $150 to fix so I figured why not go ahead and invest that money into a new camera.... and get a HARD CAMERA CASE this time so I don't have to put this back on my to do list!!! : )
I went to staples where the sales person printed out detailed features of each phone. We discussed my needs and price compared.
I ended up buying a Cannon Powershot SD1100 IS.
I have a goal in the very far off future of taking photography classes... when it calls for a fancy camera.... I'll get one then. For now... nieces piano recitals, parties with friends... this will do just fine!
Lessons & tips: Tell the sales person exactly what you intend to do so you don't end up spending extra money on features you don't need.

I’m seeing good things about this camera. Don’t really want to spend more than $200… it’s slightly over but maybe I can negotiate with my expert sales skills : ) !!!!

She is 6. And so cute. And it’s her first recital on Saturday. I am tired of not documenting my life. I want to remember it forever…. not just in my mind’s eye!! My plan is to buy one this week.

I understand that it will cost me as much to fix my camera as to buy a new one : ( This makes me sad. It has something to do with a motor in the lens… hmph ... I barely used the camera but I have a slight attachment to it because my father gave it to me for Christmas last year… very unlike my Dad I thought…

i dropped my camera off in the city to get fixed, and they called back later to say that i could come pick it up.
so i drove the hour and a half into the city, only to find out that my camera was irreparable. i wasted time, and money to go get a dead camera.
waste of timee.

and the battery latch broke when the airport bag check dropped my bags and I taped it together but I have to hold it anyway because it doesn’t read the battery, and this often causes my camera to spontaneously turn on and off which is causing all sorts of weird inner dysfunctions like the shutter will stop working in the sunlight or whenever it’s hot, as does the review pictures mode. and sometimes after I take a picture the camera turns off, and I review it and the picture is gone!! HUHHHH lame.

i dropped my camera walking down the stairs of the seattle art museum. well, i fell…and it fell with me. so graceful. anyway, the door to the memory card cracked and now it doesn’t turn on because it doesn’t think the door is closed. of course, olympus.com doesn’t sell memory card doors, so i’ve been procrastinating sending it in to the repair center. but i am determined to get it fixed so i can take pictures of the beautiful nature that’s just blooming!

took my camera back to the shop. shame i live in such a centralised country. they have to post it 500km to santiago to fix it. 20 days.
