Worth doing!

I can honestly say that I’m really good at video games. Sad? Maybe. I find that putting time and effort into things is really, well, hard. I have always defaulted to games to take my mind off of virtually everything. Now I’m really good at it.

Maybe I should go pro…

Going back...  — 1 month ago

To beat the rest of the Metal Gear Solid series. Finished Metal Gear Solid last night and started MGS 2: Sons of Liberty.

I’m having a good time gaming again. It’s significantly less stressful than my other hobbies, like caving. :)

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots  — 2 months ago

I backslid in my “pay off my credit card” goal by charging a PS3 on my card last Friday. But on the upside of this setback, I did get MGS4. Oh yeah, and a PS3. Which was kind of like a mini-Christmas for me. I was SO excited.

The Metal Gear Solid series is my favorite group of games hands-down, so I was absolutely sold when I saw Gamestop was selling the 80 GB PS3 bundle with MSG4 as the accompanying startup game.

For those of you who haven’t heard of this series, just know that Hideo Kojima is one of the most talented game directors on the planet, much more so than many of the movie directors in Hollywood today. He deserves an Oscar for this one.

On a scale of 1 to 10, MSG4 gets about a 16. I think it’s genuinely the best game I’ve ever played. Though I think it definitely helps if you’ve played the first three, as the games are very heavily based in the story’s plot and history. If you’ve never played the games at all, MGS3: Snake Eater is a good place to start, as it is a prequel to the first one released on the Playstation.

The graphics of MGS4 are gorgeous, the music soars, and the emotional range of the story is just absolutely breathtaking; I cried a couple of times during the most heartwrenching parts, if that tells you anything. Not something you typically find in a third person espionage game. There are also tons of homages to past games, Easter eggs, and unlockable items/secrets, which gives it tons of replay value.

Pros: Motorcycle chases, nuclear robot standoffs, worldwide conspiracies, and other things blowing up.

Cons: It’s the last one in the series. sniff

Give it a shot. You’ll be glad you did. I bought the PS3 just for the opportunity to play this game.

I forgot how much I enjoyed video games until this weekend. :)

I haven't played any games really in so long...  — 2 months ago

except a little Guitar Hero. I really want to geek out and relax with some good old-fashioned RPGs…

It’s summer time and I own a PS2, PS3, and Wii. There’s a ton of series and games I’ve been wanting to get into forever. I have no excuses.

...Actually, I do. Money. Games are so fricking expensive now. I’ll probably need to get a job to buy all the ones I want. But if I have a job I won’t have as much time to play them. Guess I’ll just have to go after the ones I REALLY want…

I own PS2, xBox, N64, Super Nintendo, Wii, and Nintendo, and probably over a hundred games all in all, but I havent played most of them! I have no time to actually sit down and get good at them, yet, so I want to play them more. Games like Halo, and SOCOM are on the top of my list to beat. Also high up are Ace Combat 05, Star Wars Obi Wan, Driver 3, Man Hunt 2, and many more!

Hmm, I think because I don’t have any CGing or anything to do on the weekends, I tend to play tons of video games laugh

Finished Touch Detective! It’s sooo cute and fun, I love it! Also partially done with Cooking Mama 2 XD

Next week is also Apollo Justice! YAY!

January  — 7 months ago

I played through two games.

First one that was beaten… Hotel Dusk: Room 215.

I order it waaaay back in January 2007. I mean, even preordered it. When it came, I felt it didn’t live up to the hype, so after an hour and some of playing, I stopped.

Picked it back up last Sunday. I guess all the hype got out of my mind, as I got stuck to it. I played it all on a five hour car ride, at home, stayed up late a few nights to play, and finally (sadly) finished it two nights ago, January 24th. About 17 or 18 hours on my save. Game wasn’t worth the hype that some blogs gave it (I’m looking at you, GoNintendo), but I’d say it was… Maybe 8.0 to 8.6, 8.7?

Second game, Super Mario Galaxy. I was saving up some cash when it came out, so I didn’t buy it immediately. I got it for Christmas, though. I got into it about two weeks ago. Beat it last night / this morning…

I’m not quite sure how I felt on it. I mean, I loved it, but… Too many ‘freaky’ levels, if you ask me. I’m a scaredy cat, yeah. Even Boos make yelp… So I wasn’t too plussed about that. The levels were a bit linear, too. In some levels, it was just peachy, in others, not so much. The boss levels weren’t so bad, though. I really liked how they used gravity there.

Wasted 10+ lives on the last stage, but took out Bowser in one life. On the whole, I guess I liked it. Somewhere between an 8.8 and a 9.3, I guess. Not second-best game of all time (so far), but pretty good.
