Viruses, Trojans and other Spyware

If you use the internet, there is always the danger to infect your computer with nasty little programs, which can monitor you without that you even notice:

• steal confidential data and user passwords,
• install malicious programs to your machine without your consent,
• take control over your computer and delete important files

These are only a few examples of many things that can happen.

The transfer of unwanted files has become so sophisticated that browsing to the wrong site can infect you already.
And if you download any kind of file (mp3, prg or documents) you give automatically the aproval for potential access.

Cookies

To whichever site you direct your browser to, you collect cookies, stored in a special file on your computer. These (personalize) cookies are in 99% ok. They are pieces of data about your preferences when visiting a website. So when you return later to the same site, a cookie will consider what you wanted before.

Sometimes there are cookies which just try to hook you up with advert. Very annoying to say the least.

Programs to protect yourself

I had a good look around and after talking with many people, I learned that there is a lot of rubbish on the market.
There are Anti-Virus or Anti-Malware programs which scan your Hard Drive and find a lot of things that are no threat to you (false positives) ... but telling you that it found something dangerous to make you buy the full version.
Don’t fall for it.

I could keep on writing a catalog about this subject, but I will just recommend these following programs for you to surfe around without getting in trouble.
Unfortunately we internet user really have to do this because there are vandals out there who are not mentally healthy in their heads.

• Spy Sweeper (Anti-Malware Protection)
• Nod32 (Anti-Virus)

• Hijackthis (for people with advanced knowledge)

• Kaspersky Internet Security (Everything you would need

Without software like this, you are vulnerable.The firewall of your OS (operating system) or freeware-anti-virus prg don’t help.

Like so often I learned the hard way. This information is for your benefit. Even if you receive an email from ebay one day, with a link where you’re been asked to fill out some details. Don’t do it ! ... even if it looks ever so trust worthy.
Like in real life, you just cannot trust anything found on the web.
This advice is valid universal.
