It is not what you do in life that is exciting, but rather how you see it. You could be skiing and that automatically sounds exciting, but, if you say I went for a walk to the dumpster or I sat on a curb, that just sounds dull. If you put it like this… I went dumpster scouting or I did some curb surfing today, then this gives it a whole new spin and sounds a little more interesting and then you start to believe your life is interesting after all, even the small things! Try it if you dare!

It’s a good idea as I seem to focus too much on the negatives or the big events. the small things in life need more recognition i say. Sometimes life can get you down.

I’d love to appreciate the smaller things – it will make me a much happier person.

I learned so much today….about ambition, taking chances, and realizing possibilities….it’s incredible. And all that came from a talk with my family.
It was supposed to be a normal evening, with the exception that we (my mother, my grandparents, and I) wanted to go out for dinner. So as we were sitting in the restaurant, we suddenly started talking about the past, people they had known and what they had become today. I discovered so much about my family’s past, and I could relate to stories they had told me before by simply “getting to know” the people they were about. A man named Arno, for example, had done a bunch of very nasty things to my Grandmother, and now that the topic came back up, we had so much fun simply talking about him. And as she also brought up a story from the bible about a lost son, my mom found a very interesting relation to it in her own life, which simply impressed me. Exactly that same story had given me much to think about in the past, and now, it was suddenly so clear. This event also motivated me to get started on another goal, which is to read the entire bible. I’m definitely not planning on becoming religious, but there are so many stories and hidden things between the lines that one can take from the bible…. I can’t believe I didn’t think of this earlier.
Besides that, a girl from the other table kept giving me weird and sceptical look, probably because she couldn’t handle my style (did I ever mention that I love spikes??). I simply love standing out :D
And on the way back home, my mother and I got into a very friendly argument about the way we both live, how we’re both different and what we don’t like about each other. It was humorous! And fun, in particular :D
Little things, a bunch of little things are what make us happiest. And I’m planning on keeping this up, simply posting small things that made me happy… ‘cause if I can be happy about little good things, I will also be able not to get as upset about simple bad things :)

I hadn’t done that in a long time, but this past week I have seen at least a dozen people I hadn’t seen for over a year! Then a friend from when I bartended pulled up alongside my truck a couple days ago. I got the feeling I had been missed by these people! It was a great feeling, and I had a smile on my face and in my heart for quite some time – I still smile thinking about it!

The air is just full at the moment of floating dandelion clocks, drifting past on the breeze.
I know it’s a weed reseeding itself where I’d really rather it wasn’t, but it’s just so very pretty :)

I’ve never had a problem with appreciating the small things when I’m not busy (i.e. unemployed). But when I get busy, I forget how great it is to smell a lilac, or to watch the sunrise…
So I’ve started to take pictures of those things, So i never forget.

Mine doesn’t look as fancy as the pic, but it’s a homely sound – matched with the smell and promise of good, fresh coffee :)

Lovely :) Even better ‘cos you know it means you’ve accomplished something productive.
