I adopted a retired racing greyhound in March of 2006. Most hounds adjust to home life right away. They really make fantastic pets. I recommend, as I always do to anyone who’s considering a new pet, that you research the breed to be sure that it’s a good match for you and your family. Two books that I can personally recommend, having read them, are Adopting the Racing Greyhound by Cynthia A. Branigan and Greyhounds: A Complete Pet Owner’s Manual by D. Caroline Coile.
I’d be happy to talk with anyone who’s seriously considering greyhound adoption, to share stories and resources and encouragement!

If I decide to adopt a greyhound I am deciding to stay in one place and that pretty much negates everything I plan to do in the near future. When I have a house, a yard and one steady fufilling job I will then be enjoying the company of an awesome dog or two. Until then… I will learn all about them :)

I still want very much to do this, but we just cant right now, it would be selfish of us. we are gone too much to give a dog the love and care he needs.
for now, our kitty will keep us company….someday though, this goal will be brought back to life…maybe when im a stay at home wife….haha.
