A foreigner in my own land  — 1 month ago

Hello All,

Once again I’ll be taking the Feet first plunge and will be moving to a land unbeknownst to me and my friends and family, Ithat makes me a trail blazer :). Anyhow, I’ve never been here and know very little about Portland, Oregon I plan on moving there this August or September as a result of a promotion. I would love to road trip it but I’m not sure if it’s feasible, but if it is I’m looking for all the tips and pointers I can get about the possible road trip and of Portland. I apprecate any and every bit of your help. And I’m always looking for new friends. Thanks! }AnGeL{

Happy Valley  — 1 month ago

My husband and I are considering this town when we relocate to Oregon sometime around 2010.

I research things to death so Ive been working on this for awhile.

If we could afford it, I would live in downtown Portland in a nice penthouse and walk everywhere!

we did it!  — 3 months ago

Planning to move to OR next summer.  — 5 months ago

Me and my girlfriend are planning to move to oregon next summer. we have talked about it for 2 or 3 years now. we live in rhode island. we wanted somwhere with a similar climate, 4 seasons, and oregon seemed perfect. last year we took a vacation on the west coast ending in portland. my girlfriend says that crater lake is the most beautiful thing she has ever seen. we liked what we saw. if you have ever been in new england then you know what i mean when i say that the people are much more laid back in oregon.
so we sat around bored in RI for another winter and decided that it is finally time to do something about our oregon dream. we opened a savings account, we are looking for new cars that can make the trip, planning the route… but its still going to be a year and a half till we move. till then we’re dreaming of our new life on the west coast.
anyone have any tips about a cross country move to oregon? what to see on the way, or where to find easy work. im an electrician and my girlfriend is a autocad drafter. any tips would be apreciated. thanks

Because my son said so...  — 7 months ago

Hello…

I am at a cross road where I know change and my season I am currently in—is ending. I know change is before me. I want to move and plant roots somewhere that’s peaceful, beautiful and safe to raise my two small boys. My oldest son, who lives in California, suggested that I research Oregon and move here. You know older kids can be a pain in the butt when they talk back and give you your own medicine (laughing at self)...indeed he gave me a good dose of my own medicine and ordered me to take it! Explore my options and move off the East Coast. So, I did and I liked what I read in terms of the diversity in land, scenery and cultures.

I am a 50-something Foster Mom, an advocate with many areas of interest and very much into my God gave ministries which actually involves getting lost into the people who dwell on the outside of the church. I enjoy (after doing spiritual work) to be in a quiet place to get my head back together. I like my quiet time and enjoy others, each in their right perspectives. I enjoy cooking and I also write and have a few things published. I enjoy diversity, a must in my life, and I love the water and being near it. At this late blooming age, this City Gal has a turned into a Country Gal, yearning to live simple, in peace and harmony.

Any suggestions where I should consider moving in Oregon?
