I’ve been trying to sort through all my books so I can make a start on my ‘Read all the books I own’ goal, but it’s so tiresome – honestly, my books are just everywhere – I swear to God they’re reproducing – I have no idea where they all come from!
Anyway, since summer started I’ve gone through quite a few of my books, and ended up giving almost 70 books away to either charity or my school library, so that was good. I’ve got a little bit more space now :P I just need to sort through the rest (and the ones in storage too :O) and then I can make a list and finally start reading some of them! Yay :) ... I wonder if I’ll be bothered enough to get this done before America? Hmmmmm o.O
(Here are some of the books I own – it’s all very messy and disorganised, I know :P)

Maybe this will get resurected as I figure out what books I will bring with me when I MOVE BACK TO THE SOUTH.

I guess it is just a fantasy of mine… will keep it as a reminder for now…

I thought about adding “read all the books I own” as a goal for myself, but I have no idea how many books I really own. So to get a better scope on how large of a task that will be, I decided to create a list of my books first. Here goes nothing.

I litterally have a thousand books or more. I’m in desparate need of More Bookcases. How will I ever even get started? I need a database.

muddart is really, really tired, but can't sleep
The main purpose of the list was to catalog all my books, and document which of them I have read.
I have 318 books (not including the 3 excluded categories listed below). I’ve read about 20% of these (though it might be more because I did not count books I thought I had read, but couldn’t remember very well).
I excluded the following from the list:
(1) Reference Books, such as dictionaries
(2) Language Study Books, except ones I’m working on now
(3) Poetry Books—I’ll add those some day
I’m glad I did it. It really motivated me to read all the books I’ve been working on. I finished reading 2 books over the past 24 hours.

I have been working on this… and actually I think it’s a good idea. It’s motivating me to read more, because it’s reminding me of the all the books I own that I still want to read. And thus it’s also motivating me to watch TV less (I am not anti-TV, I just lately find myself watching it even when there is nothing on that interests me).
So I’m listing all my books, and marking the ones I’ve read, those I’m in the midst of reading, and the ones that I want to read next.
This will help me with organization too, because I often feel I need to keep the books I want to read in plain sight so I don’t forget, but this way I can leave them on the shelf until I’m ready.

i’ve started the process using librarything.com – i suppose i’m pretty lame, because i just love the tedious process of sorting all these tons of books that i own…
