freefloatingsoul got to take the beautiful new dog {Harper?} for a nice long walk.
I’d like to take Alex for a vacation to New England sometime (probably next year). We could ski, hike mountains, and ice fish…! Maybe in Vermont?

This is going to be a long term goal. Back, way back, pre-hubby back, i used to love to go wade fishing for flounder off the Bolivar Peninsula in Galveston. So, ice fishing is something most Texans never experience. Kinda gotta go north for that one. It’s ok. I love snow. As long as someone else is doing the driving and shoveling, i’m cool.
my boyfriend is always talking about ice fishing and how he wants me to do it with him, ive never done it and i cant say the idea sounds too appealing, BUT it would mean a lot to him and id love to say ive done it before, so im gonna do it this year whether i like it or not!
Sommer just told us that we might go ice fishing soon.. she mentioned about weekends this january.. im excited
LazyKat25 needs a vacation
I love fishing in the summer. Sometimes alone with the wind and the smell of the ocean. Sometimes with friends with a lantern, lots of beer, and even more laughs. Ice fishing appeals to me because I’d have to travel to do it (thus going to a new state, see “Visit all 50 states”) and the comradery of sitting in a small cabin over a tiny whole with a few friends, some spiked cocoa, a funny wool hat, and wondering “who the hell thought of this,” the thought makes me giddy. I never said it made any sense.
find a lake and drive out on it and cut a hole in the ice and catch some fish!!
....but in the experience. As I sat with my friend in his little shack on the river, I thought to myself that it was worth it just to spend some time away from the rigmarole of normal life. To just sit around a hole in the ice with some lines dropped in there and chatting for hours about everything and nothing. We did catch some fish – 3 smelt in the almost 2 hours we were there – but nothing worth keeping. All in all, it was a good time and I thank my friend for sharing the experience with me.
