buy my own motorcycle

I’m now the proud owner of a sweet little Honda Rebel.

It is a small bike (only 250 cc’s) owned by a woman my height. She bought it to study for and pass her riding test. Now she’s gotten a bigger bike – a Harley. Anyway, this Honda Rebel really is a perfect beginners bike for someone my size. Just have to go see what condition its condition is in.

1. helemet with interchangeable visor and face shield
2. leather pants
3. leather vests (2)
4. leather/fleece dickie
5. nylon/leather armored riding jacket
6. leather gloves (unlined, fur lined, cashmere lined!!)
7. over ankle boots (Doc Martens, but hey, can hike in ‘em, too)
8. knee-high boots for cold weather
9. leather fanny pack for wallet, etc.

My leather jackets are not really motorcycle jackets. A bit too soft in the finish, taking a beating from the wind. I’m still looking out for a good, heavy duty riding jacket.

3. gps (but need to get a different Palm for it)

5. sunscreen (yech)

The bike (if this bike works out) comes loaded with accessories so I don’t know that there’s much else I’ll need. This particular bike is appealing in that I would nickle and dime myself over every accessory purchase if I had to get them separately. This way I just take the whole big leap, and I can start doing the sort of riding I want sooner rather than later.

Certain clothes and undergarments are more suitable for motorcycle touring. Things that fold up real small and open up wrinkle free and nice looking for later in the evening, for example. Maybe ought to keep them separate from my regular clothes for easy finding/packing.

Hope he’s thinking about it. I want that bike!
