Did this a long time ago in my bedroom. It has since come down but at the time it was a fun little project. If I find an image that just seems perfect for this project I might do it again. It’s difficult to make the printed paper look really well done however, possible, just takes extra time and effort.
How to rasterbate
How I did it: We recently moved some artwork around in our house, leaving our big staircase frighteningly empty.
I came across someone with a Raterbate goal on 43T and clicked over to the site and started going through my recent summer vacation photos -- found 2 that were perfect.
Printed them out and started to hang them (used poster tac so I could try some different placements). Finalized them today (moved one of them down 4 inches, the other was fine).
Result : really cool and really cheap. Eventually we'll find some 'real' art for those spaces, but we can live happily with this -- and my husband was really impressed w the creativity and reminder of our vacation
Lessons & tips: Think of the image you want on the scale it will be - and resize a lot.
I knew I'd throw some of the edges of my photo away, but found it easier to do that after converting
Resources: The site : http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/
I used thumb-tac (the repositionable gum-like stuff that is used to hang posters and the like -- doesnt harm walls, is easy to reposition)
A good printer helps

ok so I did it, I made a large transformer, and after 1 month I took it down, it looked messy, plus i bought a ton of posters in europe for super cheap so I didn’t need a messy poster in my room anymore

We have a big blank wall in there, perfect for rasterbating, hehe. That’s such a silly word :)
I can’t believe I didn’t think of this earlier! I’m going to make a transformers one! I found a great picture of optimus prime with the transformers logo in the corner, I just have to decide if I want it in black and white or colour, and then I will make it!
So excited now
I still have to find the perfect picture to do this with. I already have many posters of my favourite things (Daft Punk and Arrested Development plus some other stuff) so I need to find a picture of something I love as much as that.
I’ve got the perfect spot on my wall for it that is just empty and I would see it every night when I’m lying in my bed

But whatever my ideas, it will have to be discussed with Erik, my boyfriend. I was thinking either a nice landscape, or maybe a picture one of us has taken (which could come under both, I’m guessing). I think it’ll also depend on the space we’ll have, because we don’t know what our apartment will be like yet. :) Exciting!
(I love Muse)
Great for making posters of photos and other saved images. Remember to choose the smallest number of pixels per mm, as this will give you a high-res result.
This worked out a lot better than I thought it would! It gives my bedroom some much-needed character – looks fantastic. I decided to do a large one which takes up an entire wall of my room. The photo is a black and white one of my siblings and me. :)

But I’m still not sure what image it’ll be that I rasterbate.
