All those photos sitting on my phone memory for like 3 upgrades has finally been set free. I sent all the ones I promised to send and never did, downloaded the ones I wanted to keep and print. Filed all those pics on my computer and put onto discs, and stored them. The digital world makes taking and keeping photos so easy but put then on discs or printing them to put in albums has become that much harder because they are so accessible.
Glad it’s done and i was able to de-clutter stuff at the same time.

There is a really beautiful picture of me on the beach with my aunts and my mother on one of the Tobago Cays island.
I adore this picture because I don’t like photos of myself at all, I always think I look like a lost cast member of a horror movie. However, in this picture I look really beautiful, stunning despite the loss of hair due to chemo and I think I know why – joy. At that precise moment and infact for that entire trip I was delerious with happiness. All those bodily hang ups that women are prone to didn’t mean a jot to me; I had come back from the brink of death, was able to travel to be with my mother and aunts, all of them amazing women with fantastic stories.
What i always wanted to do was give my mother and aunts a canvas print of that picture. Finally, I achieved the goal as I got the news from the shipping company that their prints had arrived. I eagerly awaited their calls and tonight I got them, all of them at once on mum’s phone, all gushing, remembering and trying to out do each other with expressions of how much their gift meant to them but the bottom line is they were all happy and they love their gifts’ and I got a chance to smile my self silly. :-)

Ok so I had a commitment that my photos would be sorted by camp. The ones that I had printed were so that was a GREAT start. I still need to do quite a bit more to get everything up to scratch but I am happy with where I am up to thus far.
Still to do:
-Buy another powersort box
-I need a LOT more dividers. The Creative Memories ones are out of my budget really so I need to find/make some that ARE within my budget. I need quite a few so have to research what the best option is.
- Organise digital photos properly
-Write extensive notes on digital photos
-Locate photos from family and of family
-Print off hard copies of digital photos
-Put photos into powersort boxes
-Scan my old photos into digital
-Decide what to do with Mum’s photos and organise accordingly.
There may be more but this is a good start :D

I’ve been meaning to organise my photo collection for a while now. And whilst this isn’t likely to happen anytime in the near future, it bears adding to the list. The plan is to:
- source good archival folders
- organise digital photos properly
- put out a call for photos I don’t have, from mum and the like
- print off hard copies of digital photos
- put everything in chronological order
- eventually, scan old photos into digital.
It might take a while.

I’ve started tagging my photos, moved the ebay photos into a seperate folder and deleted any images of items i’ve sold. The item’s I havent listed will stay there until I sell them or give up.
I’ve got far too many photos to do this in one day. I’m going to take it slow, tagging about 50 at a time.
Any new photos I take are imediately organised as soon as I upload them, to avoid a future backlog of random photos clogging up my computer.

All the photos I’ve taken for white rabbit photo (i.e. made money from) are all organised.
All my personal photos are all over the place.
I’ve got stacks of photos printed up, half filling albums, lying around, in cupboards. On the computer in different folders.
My negatives and slides are now neatly filed away in my neg and slide folders so that’s something. A lot of them have already been scanned so that when I do get round to sorting them, there will be a nice little system for me to find them easily.
My next step is to tag all my photos with by subject, location etc. This might make it easier to spot duplicates and delete them (I’m forever copying and pasting stuff and then forgetting about it…)
No doubt I’ll uncover plenty of ebay photos. They’ll also get deleted.
When all this is done, it’ll be easier to see which negs and slides have been scanned, and I can continue to digitise the forgotton ones.
Then it’ll be the printed photos. I should just find all the photos that have been printed up and pile them next to the computer.
If I’ve got photos that are in print but do not have a digital copy, they’ll be getting the scanner treatment too.
My final step will be to reorganise my albums, and make up a photobook for my parents :-)

about this for a while. But managed this week to finally print some extremely old pics of my parents, when they where teenagers. I took them from my parents, with the promise to return them as soon as i got the copy, that was two years ago.
I look at these old black and whites, my mother 19 my father just turned 21 and they look so innocent and I often look at those pictures and wonder what they were thinking of at the time, what did they want for their futures and did they know that part of their future was each other.
They are now sitting in a silver box frame and now I have to find them a home.

I have decided HOW I am going to organise files and I am ready to implement this. I am tackling this as part of my committment missions so there will be a guaranteed 15 mins a day that I will work on this. I also have decided that if my photos aren’t sorted by the beginning of April that I wont be going to scrap camp. This in itself shows how committed I am. I LOVE camp and NOTHING will normally keep me away…
