very time consuming, but in the end you have a one-of-a-kind quilt. I used old sheets as the base and cotton scraps for the top.

I’ve made 20 blocks, but this project has stalled out. I love the colors, but the velvets have been a little challenging to work with. Had to take it off the design wall during the remodel, so I need to put it back up to inspire me. I’m using a paper foundation.

and it looks totally awesome so far, (even if I do say so myself!)

I am doing it the old fashioned way – by hand – quilters muslin foundation.

I now have a gorgeous selection of silk fabric! 4 years ago

There is a wonderful shop full of antique or special fabric near where I work. I have bought a 1/4 m each of 2 silk velvets, a 1/4 m of a handpainted silk, and 1/4 m of a truely fabulous silk tartan. Then I bought a piece of jade dupioni and a piece of cream dupioni from my local fabric shop. Adding this to what I already have stashed away and I’m on my way!

I have bought a nice big piece of quilters muslin for the foundation.

I have washed and dried it to ensure it is pre shrunk.

    Thats all so far.
