MIRV MIRV version 2.0 launches today
I have now completed this goal. This morning I ran the shamrock Shuffle 5k race in Saint John, New Brunswick. This past week had been increasingly mild, but Mother Nature decided to trick us and deliver one more snowstorm. So there was about 3-4 inches of snow on the ground and the wind was VERY strong. Because of the snow the route was changed so instead of going ‘out and back’ on Harbour Passage, we went out 1.25km, and back twice. HOWEVER we ended up doing 5.5 km because of some confusion as to which loop to do. The head wind was very strong on the way back, on the way out it was at our back helping us along :) I finished in 45 minutes and have a snazzy medal to show for it! I felt really good; this is a huge boost to my running confidence!!

My strict training regime involved getting up extra early this morning to go to Cora’s for a ‘Banana Blast’ -a crepe with bananas covered with chocolate-hazelnut sauce, whipped cream and icing sugar. Lunch was boring, but dinner involved going to Taco Pica for a veggie quesidilla with refried beans, rice and a salad. Dessert involved wandering to Sebastian for a piece of chocolate kahlua cheesecake drenched in whipped cream and chocolate sauce, garnished with a very dark chocolate wedge. Like any sensible athlete I’ve consumed vast amounts of water today, necessitating frequent trips to the washroom. It is now 12:35 and I intend to strictly adhere to my 1am bedtime. Training this arduous requires sacrifice, but I’m up to the challenge.
The moral of the story is to never take yourself too seriously.

i learned what i already knew – running is dumb. the race itself was fun, but the training is just a waste of time. i need something with ball or racket. time: 54:50.

I signed up a while ago. I have been following Hal Higdon’s training program. It has morphed into my own training program, but I hope to carry this over into running the Chicago Marathon. Wish me Luck!
