Pulled it off the bookshelf the other day... 16 months ago

and started re-reading it… I love the Chapter on the Wild Woman…

Lately, because of some power plays at work, I’ve needed to take a strongly assertive role, and as is often the case for strong assertive women, our actions are often mistaken for aggression… I’ve tried softening myself, only to find that people take advantage… After much soul searching, I’ve finally decided that I’d rather be respected & called the B-word than walked all over & called nice… Other women are free to make their own choices on this issue, but as for me, I’m a wild woman and I’ve decided to accept it…

    Bizarre! 23 months ago

Not the book, the book is fine (I read the first chapter last night). What’s weird is that I’ve remembered my dreams every night since I started reading it, including last night. I think this must be because the book is encouraging me to tune into my intuition/unconscious, which, let’s be honest, has been sorely neglected this fall. I’ve been living pretty much completely in the conscious world for awhile and shunning all but the shallowest introspection…so I’m sure there is a ton of material for the dream mechanism to work with.

I like remembering my dreams. I never do, usually, so it’s a real novelty.

...and had another VERY evocative dream this morning! Very odd, very cool.

Picked it up last night. 23 months ago

Am trying to read it slowly, before bed – it’s very much a book that is conducive to the dream state. Only got partway through the intro, but it’s not a race.

I got it from the library... 2 years ago

...read portions of it and was amazed. So I bought my own copy. Which sits on the shelf. Unread.

(The very same thing happened with Godel, Escher, Bach; I’d like to try reading that one again also.)

I’m gonna start over from the beginning and really read this time. Since it’s my book, I’m even gonna take notes in the margins if I feel like it.

    Need... 2 years ago

    ...to buy it first!

And I have ordered it online. Should get it Mon/Tues.
