On Saturday after I got out of work, Paul and I headed to Coldwater with his sister and brother-in-law, we went to the Capri drive-in theatre. The place is amazing really retro and H U G E. Every night is a double feature for seven dollars, but we chose to stay only for the first movie since I had to get up early the next morning for work. We ended up seeing Transformers 2, and although I wish that instead it could have been an old black & white movie, it was still an awesome experience. Can’t wait to do it again!

I’ve always wanted to do this. I hear there is one drive in theater nearby here that is still open. Can’t wait for summer!!

so much fun

every time my wife and I visit Cape Cod we hit up the drive-in. It typically doesn’t even matter what’s playing, it’s just about the experience. It’s also usually a really good deal if there is a couple of good movies as the cost for 2 or 3 movies is probably what you’d pay for 1 in most theaters. Also, in warm weather, if you have a truck with an open bed, it’s great to put the tailgate down and bring a bunch of blankets and pillows and lay out in the bed.

Fun Classic

I just did this a couple weeks ago and it was nostalgic and amusing at the same time. I got to bring some german dogs, a bunch of movie snacks, and beer. Other than the lack of surround sounds and the occasional mosquito, I can’t think of a better way to enjoy a movie.

We had one in Union City. They tore it down some years ago and built a “regular” movie theater in its place. I miss the drive-ins.

Yay. We finally made it to the nearby drive-in. We made ourselves a cozy area in the back of the van, loaded up on snacks, and settled in to enjoy Wall-E. There were some pesky mosquitoes and a little rain, but other than that, we all loved the experience. This will most definitely be an annual summer tradition for our family.

Our drive-in is unfortunately closing at the end of the summer too!

I told my husband that if “Get Smart” was playing at the nearby drive-in, I’d like to see it there. It was and we went, and I had a really good time. I think I’ll go again, but probably not until the weather cools down! Although it was night, it was still in the mid 80s with only the mildest breeze…

Oh! How much fun was that?
SO MUCH FUN!
Even though we somehow drove away from spectacular weather and into a rainstorm. Even though we didn’t realize we’d gone too far until we hit the US border. Even though Isak woke up and screamed for 15 minutes.
We got there in plenty of time, the rain stopped, and Isak eventually settled down. We even managed to catch glimpses of a violet sunset through the trees.
We stocked up on plenty of yummy things from the snack bar (wanting to support the last standing drive-in we know of around here) and easily found the audio on our crank radio.
The movie was really fun (I think we made a great family drive-in choice) and they still had all the vintage snack bar ads, which cracked us up. Isak loved all the car races and shouted excitedly for them to watch out or go! go! go!
After the movie, we gave Isak a Speed Racer hot wheels, which kept him happy until we got home an hour later. Definitely well worth it! We’re already talking about going again.
