I can sing but i dont want to sing something everyone knows i want it to be different. I love music so much… (sigh)

Since I started the band, I’ve been more pushed to write. Lyrics have become the most difficult part – I’m a perfectionist. I actually have several songs at the moment that seem like they could become “good” songs!
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve written songs before. A few might even be considered good. Or “fair to middlin’” or “schlock” depending on who you ask. But I have had some serious writer’s block (which will lead me to another goal, you wanna guess which one?) for the past 3, yes THREE years. I am ready to kick it.

im working on it. i can never seem to finish one, but right now i am actually writing the music for it! i have most of the lyrics and yesterday i printed out some music paper and pulled out my keyboard and started putting down the melody. i am so proud!

Writing a song is not difficult. Anyone can do it; I’ve been doing it since I was 10. But there’s a difference between writing a song and writing a GOOD song. I want to create a work of art, an immediate classing, something that will last, something that others will feel, and ultimately something with which I’m completely satisfied.
I think the most difficult part is being pleased with my own music. When it comes to songcraft I’m a perfectionist, which results in much of my work never seeing completion. I write a lot of songs, but very few make the cut when I ask myself “Am I happy with this?”

But nothing serious. And most things we do end up sounding like some other song. Like one time we wrote a really intro, but the song sounded like “Leaving on a Jet Plane”. I just don’t have the stuff, I guess. I’m in the process of writing a rap (yes, a rap) and I might post it on Youtube.
