I like to make gift baskets for people. When I told someone at work about it she wanted to buy one. When she saw it she loved it. It felt good.
How to sell something I've made
How I did it: I just asked, we gave it a try and they sold. We are the only cafe in town that does vegan cookies, so I guess that's part of it.
I customised a recipe from a cookbook, made sure everything was uniform size-wise.
Lessons & tips: Just ask!

phred3 is grateful for summer!
I was really good at baking & my mom used to sell the cakes I made to her coworkers!
I made a lamp in my art class out of trash. I was carring it home when someone in a parking lot came up to me and asked if it was for sale. At first I said no but then she offered me forty dollars for it. Now it’s hers but I took pictures of it first.
i’ve always been into fashion but i sucked at textiles. i hate the thought of having to be an expert on needlework and stitches and correct seams to make something beautiful. i love colour, glitter, beads and sequins, ribbons, strange shapes, slashed hems..i like things to be done my way. i’ve made a few pieces in the past, even a few birthday presents, but i’d like to sell some pieces too. i’m not looking to break the fashion world or take paris by storm..but just to know someone would pay for something iv toiled over would be a pretty good motivation to keep my hobby going..
And book jewelry, no less. Hey, if your book needs adornment, I’m the girl for the job. I wish I had taken pictures. They were so pretty I didn’t want to let them go. (Book jewelry sounds weird, doesn’t it? They do serve a functional purpose of holding your place as well, you know.)
Have been kicking around the idea of trying to get a booth at the community market and open an online shop at Etsy. And then someone called me today with a Christmas order of four pieces of jewelry. Okay, so maybe it was my sister, and maybe I am trading her for babysitting duty, but still! She is a little priss who has a $200 purse and she likes something I made (even if she does roll her eyes at the rest). So I went ahead and put the goal up. This is what I made for my best friend; she’s much more girly than I am, which explains all the pink and the butterflies. I’m versatile!
I never think the stuff I’ve made is ‘good’ enough to sell, but the other mothers at playgroup were cooing over the little smock I’d made for my daughter. And seeing as one mother was selling cards at the end of the meeting (not homemade), then perhaps I could start off selling stuff there… I’d like to have something done before the end of term, but I’ve got several craft projects competing for my attention, and not enough time available to get through it all. We’ll see.
