But I was able to catch them once, on the Thirteenth Step tour, and I’m glad it was then since that meant I got to hear a show drawing on both albums than just the one. They opened with “The Vanishing” and holy heck that was great—also, James Iha sang a wonderfully sweet/silly version of the Velvet Underground’s “After Hours,” of all things.
Seen these guys play twice. Love the band and I’m pretty sure it’s the softer-side of Maynard. His songs are all lovey-dovey, but I like this side of him.
In New Orleans, 2004. during my gap year in the States. The perfect supergroup concert that satiated the Tool/Pumpkins/Vandals fan in me. James Iha looked awesome with long white hair. And MJK and Billy are…well, legends.
I absolutely loved the 13th step tour. I saw it in Charlotte NC, it was wonderful. It was the single most…..amazing….religious….orgasmic…..mind blowing….life changing moment of my life.
