O Canada, a dream 2 months ago

I want to move to Canada. A few years ago my mother went on a trip there and from all her travels, I think I liked hearing about Canada the most. I go online almost everyday to read about it. I’ll give it a year before I start the paperwork because I want to go to finish my masters first but I’m hoping I can get a job there or go there to study… we’ll see how it goes but I’m pretty sure Canada is it for me…

HauntedHello What I want is not to want what isn't mine.

Looking for Permanent Resident Status 10 months ago

I currently live in Vancouver and made it here on a Working Holiday Visa that I can renew every 24 months until I turn 32. I have another 4 years until that date. I really have no idea where to start to apply for permanent residency without being sponsored by a company. I have already been living here for 12 months and have an amazing home and a large circle of friends.
I love my job too but I do not have the option of being sponsored by them yet and would prefer to get the residency on my own merit rather than through a job that I might leave to move up in another company.
You see without permanent status on the Visa I am on, companies tend to not give me the look in.
I am not qualified through formal education but I am highly skilled from my many years of work in the Australian job industry at developing office process and management.
Hopefully when i finish my novel I will be able to do something with that.

Ongoing! 14 months ago

Pursuing one’s dreams involves sometimes serious sacrifice, sweat and tears. It helps a lot when you have a person by your side that is understanding, caring and supportive of your goals. I am very fortunate to have a wife like that. We are currently on montreal as visitors but we are waiting paperwork regarding an employment offer that will allows to try this land of “Honey and Milk” for a couple of years at least. Fingers crossed and looking forward.

Oh Canada!! 16 months ago

The best thing I have ever done.

Canada represents what I think is the very best that Western Culture has to offer: progress, opportunity, tolerance, and a sense of community.

I can listen to the Star Spangled Banner 24/7 and I don’t feel anything….as soon as Oh Canada starts playing, I start to cry. How the HELL am I going to be able to go through my citizenship Ceremony?

I’ve landed on July 2007. It’s been quite a long journey, and when I look back now… Most of it was waiting. For those who are currently on the road, hang in there, you will succeed! Good Luck

I went to Canada for the first time last year and loved it. OK, I only saw Toronto, but if that’s anything to go by, I wanna love there!!
I checked out the immigration website and have just about enough points to pass. Got a load of Canadian relatives which helps, and also got married there, so I think that helps too… Family stuff keeps me here, but it’s a dream….maybe one day…..

After Uni. 3 years ago

I want to do this so much. I’m going to Uni to study Law with German… not really much use to me if I want to go to Canada – it’ll help me with the points on the skilled worker application but it wont really help me get a job out there. Anyway I’m learning French too and I’m gonna learn Inuktitut, when I can find some sites and books to help. Going to join the police while I save up the money to make my application and maybe when I get to Canada I can apply for permenant Residence status and then apply to join the RCMP. My life dream… kinda weird but hey. Better not tell my folks though they want me to be a lawyer and make loadsa dough.

I moved to Canada at the tender age of 11. Wonderful country. Great society, great ideals, great everything. I like the influence Canada has had over my philosophy. Well, I suppose over-agressive anti-trespassing laws and excessive urban sprawl are objectionable, but one can’t have everything.:P

And now, for no particular reason, some hamsters by ursulav…
