How to see a broadway musical"it was awesome!"
How I did it: i looked at the website www.broadwayacrossamerica.com and looked up my city and the shows currently playing. i checked out the synopsis to get an idea of what the show was about, so i wouldnt be totally lost when i saw it, lol. i bought the tickets on-site, the day of the show, that way i didnt have to pay extra fees. the prices can be very economical, starting at $21, so you dont have to have a lot of money to see a broadway show and you get quality entertainment. :-) this is a great experience for kids, too! Hairspray, Annie, and Oliver are my favorites! i hope you enjoy your show! Lessons & tips:

More "How I Did It" stories
Fantasyrulz is.
How I did it: I did this by talking with my mom about what musical she'd like to go see with me. She didn't want to see a tragedy or a drama. Since Hairspray was closing on January 4th, I said I really wanted to see that. The day after Christmas I drove down to NYC with my family, and my mom and I saw Hairspray on the 27th. We saw most of the original cast, since they were back due to the show closing. The set was fantastic, the singing was fabulo… Read how I did it…

I’ve seen The Lion King twice, and about to go see it again. Though I’ve seen a handful of Broadway shows, this is the only one that’s really stood out to me. (But any are good)
It’s guaranteed to make you cry..so moving.
On April 1, 2007, my now-fiance and I took an impromptu trip to New York City. While we were there, I knew I had to see a Broadway musical, since I’ve been a fan of musicals for as long as I can remember. We wanted to see The Drowsy Chaperone, as I’ve had my eye on that since before it came to Broadway in April of 2006, but our oversight of when it was showing led us to have to take a miss on it. It was only playing a matinee that day and we didn’t realize that until it was too late. I also wanted to see Curtains but we ran into the same situation on that one as well. Instead, we chose to see Avenue Q. It was an excellent choice. We got our tickets at the TKTS booth which meant that we only spent about $100 on our tickets which were in the rear of the orchestra level.
He and I laughed so hard we cried and I cried a little bit (at the appropriate times), and absolutely loved the entire thing. My only regret is that I didn’t come home with a Trekkie-monster hand puppet.
I’d recommend going to see a show to anyone who loves musicals. Even if it isn’t the original cast, there’s a different energy seeing it in New York City versus seeing it on a Broadway tour.
I would (and did) do it again. :)
I had kind of forgotten about this site, but last march I actually go to do this. SO fantastic. My boyfriend and I went to see Phantom of the Opera. The guy (Howard McGillan) who played our phantom was amazing! Apparently, he was also the voice of Derek in the Swan Princess, haha.
God they’re amazing. You NEED to see one if you can before you die. Honestly, if you pick the right one..
Plays like.. for example
Oh. Wicked. Wicked was amazing. I’d go see that four times over.
...was freeking sweet… I saw it on tour down in Tampa. It is the best play/musical I have been to EVER! Deffinately worth seeing.
I want to go to New York after my gradution from grad school. My course work is finished in December and I graduate in May of next year, but I am hoping to go before my actual graduation ceremony. My husband is on board, now I just have to concentrate on saving the money! I think that I could handle New York in the spring…
I love broadway!! So i went to go see my first broadway musical. I was soo excited! i saved up all my money for the ticket … unfortunately our seats still weren’t very good :( But that didn’t matter. The play was amazing!! I don’t know if you have see or ever heard of Wicked! but it’s the story of Elphaba the wicked witch of the west before and after her encounter with Dorothy. I especially loved the soundtrack! I definately recommend seeing if you ever get the chance!! :)
I just love musicals but my husband has little time and hates going to the city, so one of these days I’ll get him there.
