I’ve gone as far as to get books and do some internet research, but I am still waiting on the fellow climbers to get in contact with me. Unfortunately I cannot do anything more until then.
People doing this are also doing these things:

Tentatively scheduled for summer 2011. Will likely climb with two friends and engage either RMI or Alpine Ascents.
Although I can’t honestly say that I liked spending that many days in a row in a tent with the same unwashed person, I certainly encourage anyone with the desire to get after it. I loved the experience and had a number of realizations as I made upward progress. When else does an adult get to revert to childhood and play fort and eat as many candy bars as they want without reservation.
and probably the second hardest of the seven summits to climb. (Although Vinson Massif is climbed much less often because of the location, and Carstenz Pyramid is more technically challenging).
Put this one aside until we’ve climbed the 4 “easy” ones:
- Kosciuszko
- Kilimanjaro
- Elbrus
- Aconcagua
Planning to go with an old friend who has organized several Denali trips and has summited once. We’ve climbed several other mountains together, and hope to get in this one before we get too old. (He’s a few years ahead of me, so maybe I have a little longer…)
Have wanted to climb that mountain ever since moving to Alaska. My wife says I need to wait till I have my mid-life crisis, but how do you know when that is?
