I had a bit of a mishap a couple of weeks ago because my system broke down when my palm pilot died. Ack! So, now that I purchased my new palm pilot (same version as the old – Zire 31 – so that I could easily get back up and running with the system I created earlier this year), I can now get back on the horse.
I have, however, been dragging my feet a bit and my INBOXES are now back to needing to be emptied and I still need to do a thorough Weekly Review to get me back to being current.
Will create a PROJECT called: “Get Current with GTD” where DONE equals:
(1) Processing my home physical inbox to empty
(2) Processing my work physical inbox to empty
(3) Bringing all my lists current
Gooo GTD!

I’m all set for some GTD Kung Fu. I’ve spent some of the past two months studying the principles and practices, and I’ve refreshed my toolset. But life is about to become much more complicated with school starting next week. The question is whether I’ll keep up with the game this year or end up scrambling to put out fires as per the usual routine. If I manage a calm, collected fall semester in spite of all the nonsense associated with college, then I will consider this effort a success.

Which tools are working efficient for a good Collect MODE?

For me I’d long been interested in GTD. I’ve got a pretty demanding banking job, I teach Finance part time at a University in London and on top of all that good stuff for some odd reason I decided I needed an MBA which promptly staked it’s claim to what was left of my personal life.
Ugh.
I tried and tried GTD, read the books, bought some tools, couldn’t make it happen.
But then I changed jobs, and told myself from day one I’d fully engage GTD. And I did.
So for me it seemed the old habits were nigh on impossible to break in the old context. The will was there but inertia is strong.

I got the tools (VBA enabled Excel spreadsheet, a Palm LifeDrive) and now have to start to integrate these techniques into my life.
And it’s actually working! My main threads are Professional Work, Personal, Academic Work, and my MBA program.
