rimprincesscDay 9

Today is day 9. Can’t wait to taste the oj on Monday. The weight loss has slowed a bit for me. I’m down to 124.5 now, but didn’t lose anything from yesterday to today. I feel good, but I am so tired of the lemonade. I’ve done this many times before, but I’ve never been so tired of tasting the lemonade.

Hope it’s going well for anyone else still doing it too! 1 week ago

rimprincesscDay 5

Going on day 5. I’m doing ok. down to 126, after finally getting a new scale :) The SWF wasn’t as horrible today, though still really hard to get down. I just can’t get all of it down. Everytime I swallow all of it, I throw a little of it up! Maybe my stomach just can’t hold it all…. 1 week ago

rimprincesscDay 3

Well, this is the beginning of Day 3. Need to get a new scale. I stepped on it today and I was suddenly 135.5…could I seriously have gained 7 pounds over night? No way…so off to the store later to buy a new scale. Then we’ll see how much I really weigh.

Geez, I want to chew something badly. My stomach doesn’t feel too hungry, but my mouth just wants to chew and swallow something. And I’m tired of the lemonade, still. I am putting just a tiny drop of the maple syrup in…I know I need the calories, but I just don’t like the taste! I used to…but for some reason I don’t like it so much anymore. Today, I am juicing some limes. The original master cleanse booklet says limes are ok, so I’m going to mix it up a little.

When I get the new scale, we’ll see what I weigh now. Hopefully it will be close to the 128.5, or else I won’t know how much weight I’ve lost by the end…. 2 weeks ago

rimprincesscDay 2

Well this is day 2 for me. Again. I do this cleanse every so often. This time I’m doing it with someone. It’s more motivating, but it still kind of sucks. The SWF is nasty both going in and coming out! But I guess that’s the point. Yesterday morning I weighed in at 130.5. Today, I’m 128.5. I know the point is detox, but for me the motivation is weight loss. Hopefully, this trend will keep going. 2 lbs is a lot. I know it won’t be that much every day, but as long as the scale keeps going down, I’m good. Even if it’s just a little.

My biggest problem is that it’s only day 2, and I’m already tired of the lemonade. I only drink it when I’m really hungry or weak. I don’t like the maple syrup very much so put only half of what is called for in each glass. But still. I wish I could just have the lemon and water! LOL!

Anyway, i’m going to try to stay strong. 2 weeks ago

Nelson CaparasThe Master Cleanse Experience

I have done this program so many times already. Recently I did the 5th try and this time I was aiming for the 10 day program but I only lasted for 5days. Not bad though, it’s fine with me. Ingredients are a bit expensive, haha. The weird part is, on the fourth day of my first attempt I already lost 10lbs. But this time, I didn’t lose a thing. My weight remained the same albeit I feel light.

This is my fifth time this year, I don’t think I’m gonna do it again in the coming months. I’ll just stick with a healthy diet, I guess. 4 months ago

Queen Esther...i'm not so sure about tthis one...

i wanted to do the master cleanse because i wanted to lose weight fast. the thing is, according to every nutritionist i’ve referenced on and off line, there’s no healthy way to pull that off. it’s actually referred to as a fad diet. i actually tried it twice and ended up ravenous and obsessing about food. i live a pretty high octane, action-packed life in nyc. i’m way too busy and way too physical to starve myself.

dr. alejandro junger’s clean program is a much better option.

it’s basically a very simple approach that has you remove all the processed foods out of your diet, along with anything else you could possibly be allergic to, like nightshade vegetables and corn. no salt. no sugar or sweeteners. no seafood. no beef or pork. and that ain’t all. your food intake is stripped down to the essentials. it’s quite a list.

did i lose weight? yep. more importantly, though, i began to think differently about food and eating and i learned what it means to eat clean and why it’s important. i even kept a journal to document all this.

at this point, i’m convinced that eating clean, not eating at night and working out almost every day has given me my body back. the bottom line is, there are no short cuts. doctors and nutritionists agree with me on this one – if you really want to lose weight, eat less food. 5 months ago

jacktripperswifeDay 1

And, so it begins… Three hours in and I’m already so hungry and craving… It’s been quite a while since my last cleanse, so I forget about the stages I go through. I guess I’ll go back and read thru my older entries to have a better idea what to expect. 5 months ago

toxickittenDay 13 - more thoughts

Also, a few other things I’ve noticed – I don’t get stressed out as much anymore. I’ve got a lot of things going on in my life that would usually cause me to be on major freakout mode, but I’m at peace right now.

Another thing – dreams! I dream vividly about food every night. It’s usually me eating lots of the unhealthiest food I can imagine, and being powerless to control myself. I remember having these sorts of dreams occasionally during my other cleanses, but this time, it’s nearly every night. It doesn’t make sense, because in my waking life I’ve been craving healthy things, mostly seafood, fresh veggies and rice. And avocados! There’s a slight yearning for carbs, but I’d really just love some broccoli right now. 5 months ago

toxickittenDay 13 - I'm still here!

Day 13 -

Hi all… didn’t have time to write in the past few days. I’m still going – I don’t know about strong. The psychological and physiological effects of this cleanse are really taking a toll on me. At this point, I’m wondering if I should keep going for 40 days. I haven’t been having the lemonade as much as I should – I’m just sick of the taste of it. But as a result, I’m tired a lot more often. I’m not filled with energy, there’s no euphoria, and all I want to do is sleep, I’ve been neglecting life responsibilities because I’m so tired and lethargic all the time. Twice already I’ve had occasions where I go out to run errands or something, and by the time I’m headed home, I’m nauseous, lightheaded, and feeling like I want to collapse. I don’t get hunger pangs very much, although gastrointestinal upsets are pretty common.

This has been substantially harder than any cleanse I’ve ever done before. I think I have a LOT of junk in there to detox. I did pick up some horrible habits here that I didn’t have before. Doughnuts for breakfast several times a week, massive amounts of stress, caffeine, LOTS of alcoholic binges, and tons of grease grease grease grease! I think I need to just be patient with my body and let this cleanse take its course.

Psychologically, I miss the taste of food, eating, drinking wine. The social implications of not eating while in this city are strong. Seems like everyone wants to do dinner and drinks, and all can do is sip on mint tea or water and watch everyone eat. I don’t think people are asking me to go out with them anymore because I’m making them uncomfortable. I don’t tell many people I’m fasting – maybe I should?

Now – the positives. I’ve lost a grand total of 22 lbs on this cleanse so far. I will have to lose 32 more to reach my goal weight. I’ve gone down two dress sizes and I appear noticeably thinner. What’s really spurring me own to do the 40 days is because it’s what I set out to do, and I think I’m going to feel like a failure if I quit. I’m going to do 20 days at least, and then I’ll see how I’m doing. I’ll probably check back in at day 20, unless I have something significant to share. 5 months ago

jacktripperswifeGetting ready to start

So, here I go again… I’ve lost count now- I think this is my 4th or 5th time doing the cleanse. I made it at least 18 days the last time around…. This time I’m only going for 10, but that’s what I always say. I’m looking forward to the serenity that comes from doing the cleanse. I am in desperate need of some peace and clarity and that wonderful feeling that comes along with cleansing. I am probably going to start in the next 2 or 3 days- just want to mentally prepare myself…. Can’t wait to begin the journey with you all… And in the meantime, GOOD LUCK!! 5 months ago

toxickittenDay three & four

Day 3 – Oddly, I’m tired of the lemonade already. I remember chugging the stuff back when I first started no problem, and I loved the smell and taste of maple syrup, but this time around I find the tart/sweet/spiciness kind of off putting. Well, it’s way too early in the ballgame to get tired of it now! Maybe I’ll come round as the cleanse continues. I only managed to get about 48 oz of it down. Anyway, I may have overtaxed myself. I went to work, and the first part of the day was fine, but I popped out and walked a few blocks down to run errands, and while I was out, I started to feel weak and sickly. I remember feeling like I needed to sit frequently and lean against things while I was in the bank. I felt dizzy and woozy and hoped people didn’t think something was wrong with me!

Things came to a head when I was in an office supply store – I felt so bad, so weighed down and nauseated, I kept sitting and sipping my lemonade, and finally I was going down the escalator, when I felt a wave of nausea hit. I asked an associate where the bathroom was, he said there were no public ones. Drat! I found somewhere to sit while I tried to regain composure and keep myself from puking! I was swaying, in a cold sweat, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to get home. I finally managed to get up and out of there. I felt sleepy, so I decided to go home and have a nap. I felt great after the nap, in fact well enough to go back to work. I didn’t have anymore bad symptoms. All in all, probably the worst day 3 I’ve ever had while doing any cleanse, which means I’m definitely as loaded with toxins as I suspected.

Day 4 – Was pretty uneventful. I was off work today, so I decided to take it easy, and give my body a bit more time to adjust to the fast (after what happened yesterday, I didn’t want to chance that happening again). I hadn’t been very pleased with how ineffective the “smooth move” tea had been, so I steeped two bags instead of one. It worked – TOO WELL. The cramping was pretty damned bad. I notice I get sleepy in the middle of the day and need to take a nap – I try and accommodate my needs for this as much as I can. I went shopping and ran a few errands later in the evening, with no ill effects.

I’m still not a big fan of the lemonade! I only had 24 oz today, and water. I only drank it when the hunger pangs and cravings got out of control. I’ve had a craving for vichyssoise that’s been ongoing for a few days. Fish and mussels are my biggest temptation right now. I really can’t wait until the cravings and EXTREME desire to eat stops! When I smell food or see it, I just want to eat it. I miss it. I dream about it – yes, I have these bright, vivid dreams where I’m eating – I can feel the texture, temperature, & taste the flavours of the things I’m eating, I can feel the fullness in my stomach – yes, they’re THAT vivid! Then I wake up freaking out and thinking I’ve cheated on the fast, but then of course I realize it was just a dream. I’m so attached to food, I admit it. Oddly enough, I haven’t had a craving for wine or caffeine, just food. The good news is, I’m starting to feel the cravings go away. Well that’s it for tonight. Senna tea time :) 5 months ago

toxickittenDay one & two - Earthquake!

Okay, I’m in this for sure now.

This is my 4th master cleanse, and I’m planning to do it for 40 days. The longest I’ve ever gone was 21. I’ve documented all of my cleanses on this site. It just helps to talk about it, creates a sense of accountability and keeps me motivated to continue.

By deciding to do a 40 day from the jump, I hope I’m not setting myself up for failure, as it seems like the people who successfully completed a 40 day cleanse first started at 10, then decided to do 20, and so on and so on. I’ve seen a lot of youtube videos and they’re really inspirational. I’m primarily doing this to purge all of the toxins I’ve accumulated over the past few years (I did my last cleanse in 09). Then I moved to Philly – I’ve been here for over two years. It’s all about food here – you can’t get away from it, everything seems to revolve around it. And booze, so much booze. Since living here, I’ve picked up a fairly regular drinking habit. I like to go out and drink on the weekends, sometimes excessively, which is so unhealthy.

Due to my new Philadelphian diet, I packed on some pounds and wasn’t happy about it, so I went on a health kick and dropped some weight late last year and started looking very fit. THEN I went to an 8 month technical school and put on so much weight while I was there! Then I got back into my drinking on the weekends and pigging out on terrible things, and now I’ve ballooned up to a weight that is a LOT. I’m bloated, tired, sluggish, unmotivated, and it isn’t a good time in my life to be like that, especially since I’m trying to start my own business!

So anyway, I’m here, hopefully to use this cleanse to reset my eating habits and flush the nasty stuff out, plus get some energy, stop some weight and perhaps get my skin in better condition.

Day one was pretty uneventful – I had senna tea the night before and it did nada, so I tried doing the SWF (something I said I wouldn’t do again) and it was VILE! I ended up puking most of it up. It did end up causing a bit of an elim, but I think the 2nd senna tea I had that morning was responsible. I felt awful for the rest of the day and just slept. Not doing the SWF ever again! I actually braved going out for “drinks” with a friend. He had buffalo chicken and beer which smelled amazing and would have been my pick. I had to settle for water with lemon and lime slices – but I survived. I ended the night craving avocado and bacon.

Day two – we could feel a bit of an earthquake today in Philly – totally not something I’m used to! I almost considered quitting, just because there was an earthquake, but then I thought, why??? That makes zero sense. So I decided to keep going – I even bought an electric juicer. Now I can’t give up, I’ve invested in this! I’ve decided that when I end the cleanse, I will most likely be a pesco-vegetarian. I’ve realized that I don’t feel all terrible and weighed down after I eat seafood the like I do when I have poultry and red meat. But first, I’ve gotta get through this cleanse! I’ve been having cravings, and I seem to be more hungry than I remember being the first few times I did the cleanse. But as an experienced MC’er, I know it always it gets better after these rough first three days.

Well, that’s all for now, just had my tea and I’m headed to bed. More updates tomorrow :) 5 months ago
