my first master cleanse started halfway thru day! f it! 5 days ago

day one! I am beginning this cleanse at an awkward time and halfway thru the day… That’s right I had a bagel w creamcheese, 5 maple sausage links, 2 lego waffles with bluberry syrup and 3 cups of coffee. I maybe doomed for failure but goin for it anyway. Need to muster up all the willpower i have and do this! I just made my first batch of lemonade and it is strong. wondering if i should do the swf tonight or not considering i will only consume 5 or 6 lemonades before bed.

writing about the cleanse 1 week ago

So I was hesitant about coming back to this forum since whenever I write on here I feel alone. But gb hero is here and looks like he needs some support. I just ended day one. I am a week late from when I wanted to start but I just kept putting it off. Tomorrow is going to be a rough day because I work for 13 hours tomorrow and the whole office is having a HUGE potluck and Halloween candy like crazy! I need to be careful. I am going to go 13 days since I will have guests coming. I have a goal of doing this the 2 weeks then after thanksgiving 2 more times of 20 day each. That is my goal anyway. This cleanse is hard but the benefits way out weigh the hunger. I don’t have to use medication for the following: migraines, asthma, blood pressure, reactive airway disease. I have done the cleanse for each of those ailments and have not had a migraine since 2006 and not had to use my inhaler since last year. I am not saying that this will work for everyone and I was only diagnosed with asthma 2 years ago but I sure hared using my inhaler. This will be a short cleanse so I hope I can get through it okay.
KEEP GOING gigabytehero!

Day 3 1 week ago

Quick update:
Not really feeling all that hot. Weeaaaak. Must drink more lemonade. I had a ton of dreams about cheating on the cleanse. I’ve got to remember to take this one day at a time.
And in torturing myself news…
I was trying to find a vegetarian recipe for philly cheese steak because yesterday I wanted one in the worst way (even though I’ve never had one before in my life), and in searching I found out that there’s a Vegan Yum Yum cookbook! (Yes, I’m behind the curve here.) So I’ve got it ordered and ready to try when I’m done cleansing. I cannot wait.

I wish it wasn’t so quiet on this forum!

Middle of Day 2! 1 week ago

I mixed up some new lemonade with much less syrup and much less cayenne pepper. I know it will be harder to get as many calories this way, but the amount of syrup was just so sickly sweet. I’m enjoying it a lot more now that it’s less sweet, and I’ll make up for it by drinking more of it.

Even though I don’t have any classes on Tuesdays, I’m keeping really busy and mostly am able to keep my mind off of what I’m not eating. The morning was torture though. Sitting at a fundraising table for two hours watching a giant tv showing commercial after commercial of delicious, fattening, greasy foods. And not to mention being right outside the doorway to the food court, and down the hall from the cafe…. mmmmm….

ANYWAY. I’m glad about my decision to do this over Halloween weekend. Otherwise I would have been indulging myself in far too many sweets, and probably intoxicated Thursday through Sunday. And no one needs that.

End of Day 1 1 week ago

Oh goodness. I’m hoping to have the willpower to make it at least 5 days. This morning was so rough, but I know that is just an indication of how much I really really need this cleanse.
I didn’t have nearly as much lemonade as I should have, mainly because after 6 pm just looking at it was making my stomach turn. I’m not sure why, it doesn’t taste bad.

I was thinking about what kind of abuses I’ve done to my body since the last time I did this cleanse, since this time around seems so much different, and then it hit me… alcohol. I was not much of a drinker at all before the first time I cleansed, and since the first time I picked up a dirty habit of binge-drinking semi-regularly. This morning was not something I ever really want to live through again, so I easily came to the conclusion that I can easily live without alcohol again. And thinking about it, what has alcohol even ever done for me? I tend to get peer-pressured into drinking it, then end up doing really stupid things and sometimes not even remember doing it. The only thing worse than the hangover the the next day that renders me useless is running into people who ask me “Do you remember __ last night?” And all I can think is, I don’t even remember seeing you last night. It’s so embarrassing.

Clearly the sluggishness, the unmotivated feeling, the grumpiness, the dependency on sleeping pills, the switching between eating habits of an anorexic middle school girl and a competitive eating sumo-wrestler, the weekly hangovers, the screwy blood-sugar were all symptoms that I needed to make some changes in my life.

I’m settling inn with my tea now, so I can expect to be woken up in a few hours by horrible cramps :) Goodbye toxins!

Round 2 Day 1! 1 week ago

Whoooo buddy. I was reading over my entries from last time going through this cleanse and it definitely didn’t start the same way as it did today.
I knew I wasn’t exactly taking care of myself lately, but I feel like I’m exorcising demons here. Last night I cheerily said goodbye to the delicious cake our neighbor so generously shared with us, got my lemonade ready, drank my senna tea, and went to sleep very excited about today.
This morning I woke up with crippling stomache cramps but wasn’t too concerned. I don’t know what exactly I’ve been doing to my poor body lately but it resulted in cold sweats, nausea and feeling like I’m going to faint.
I’m so glad I’m doing this cleanse. Obviously I’ve got some really awful stuff to clean out.

Started 10-26 1 week ago

here i go… hoping this forum will keep me on track, wish me luck!
best of luck to my fellow fasters : )

Day 1: SUCKED! Was hungry, cold and had a little headache in the morning. Fell asleep early and slept hard through the night.
I was only able to do 1/2 of the SW flush and it only made one solid-ish movement. The tea did nothing for me but put a nice new flavor in my mouth

Day 2: SUCKS! Got more of the SW flush down and it took a while to kick-in and even longer to kick-out. Was about 15 min. late to work today because I was scared to leave the bathroom behind.
I’m still hungry and cold and have some rumblings going on in my belly. My tounge is alread white… is that weird?
Looking forward to my tea and my book and passing out early again tonight… just gotta get there first : )
Happy cleansing!

starting the cleanse again.....? 2 weeks ago

So I am thinking about doing the cleanse again. I am not sure what cleanse this would be but I need to do it. Not quite sure when I am going to start but I know that it will be this week. Sometimes this website is very helpful and sometimes I will go for many days with no support. Is there anyone that wants to do this goal this week? I am thinking of going 14-21 days I am not quite sure. Anyone?

Master Cleanse is the Best 4 weeks ago

I first heard about the Master Cleanser diet while watching Ellen DeGeneres who had Beyonce Knowles as a guest. Beyonce talked about how she got ready for her role in Dreamgirls and she mentioned this diet where she ate no food and only drank lemonade. I thought nothing of it because honestly hearing someone say they only drink lemonade all day is simply not appealing. You might as well say you eat coffee grounds for breakfast. Then my wife recently who had talked with an old school friend about getting on something called the Master Cleanse diet. She read the book and bought one for me and we started. The first day my wife wanted to quit and start fresh the next day. So we did and it has been great so far!

I’ve been on the Master Cleanse for approximately 3 weeks and it’s been an amazing journey. It has allowed to me to not only focus on my health but to clearly understand what I’m suppossed to feel like. I’ve been filling my body with toxins for so long I have started to believe that it’s normal to feel sluggish and tired. So far I’ve lost 16 lbs and still counting. I’ve also made a conscious choice to eat more vegetarian meals instead of a meal consisting of meat, bread, veggies, etc;.

I would mark this as done but I don’t feel done since I’m not the weight that I want to be. Here are a few friendly tips to get you going.

1.First and foremost READ THE BOOK!!! I’ve tried a lot of diets of the years some good and some bad. The biggest mistake I’ve seen people make when starting a diet is not properly learning how to do the diet. You will do yourself a great diservice by skipping this book. With everything you do their must always be a WHY factor. A question that you answer by starting, staying, and completing the cleanse. For me I wanted to change my diet but I didn’t really know how. The booked put things in perspective. Did I also mention the book is less than $10 online?

(Burroughs, Stanley (1976). The Master Cleanser. Burroughs Books ISBN 0963926209)

2.Don’t modify the recipe for the lemonade. The lemonade should taste like regular lemonade. Don’t listen to those who say they can’t stomach the taste, they didn’t read the book and don’t know the correct measurements. The biggest mistake is the measurement for the cayenne pepper (less than 1/4 tsp). People are taking cayenne pills to thwart off the taste of the lemonade which isn’t properly prepared

3.Start small and work your way up. There are people online who claim to have gone for 40 days or longer. Stanley Burroughs in his book actually recommends you only go this long when you have serious health problems. Start with 3 days, when you hit your third day keep going to one week and so on. This way you can set goals that are realistic for you. Your greatest challenge on the Master Cleanser diet is the temptation to cheat. I recommend you not get into snacking or cheating until you’ve reached a point in the diet where you can resist snacking behavior, say 10 lbs or more.

4.You will find that not focusing your time on eating you have a lot of free time on your hands. It’s amazing when you realize just how much time you spend obsessing over food. The Master Cleanser diet will help you overcome this so get active with your new found free time. By filling in the gaps you will be on your way to changing not just your appearance but your lifestyle. Have fun!!!
