I’ve checked out two books from the library. Now I just have to pretend that I understand them. fingers crossed.
How I did it: Online tutorials, various online websites that I wanted to help build and maintain allowed myself for the part of trial and error, using XAMPP works best also. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I read online tutorials, mostly focusing on how to implement certain design patterns and maximize reuse of code. I think knowing how to program and knowing a programming language are two different issues. I focused on how I wanted my program to be structured. The documentation for PHP is sufficiently good that if you know how to program, you can just get started and look things up in an ad hoc manner. Read how I did it…

How I did it: hardwork, will, and never say die. schedule time to do this, make it enjoyable, look at everything as a challenge, build up slowly, find what works for you. Read how I did it…
How I did it: There are lots of tutorials on the web that teach you how to handle both PHP and MySQL simultaneously. With a good text editor and a local server, it's fun! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went to school to learn this; I tried it before by myself, but as a first language, it's really quite easy if you already know another language. (I know AS3, Java, JS, VB, So something extra isn't that hard)They only taught me three weeks of it, because it's simple to learn the basics in php (Cookies, sessions, arimethic, form validation, ...)After that we switched to ASP. I still use php on my own website, I believe that's the best way… Read how I did it…

I want to learn PHP. Right now I’m studying game design and will probably not start this goal until I have a fairly good grasp of C++ since that is where my priorities lie. But since they are so similar, I probably won’t have a hard time learning it after the fact.

In a couple of days I am already half way through the 11 hour PHP tutorial on Lynda.com. I was working on trying to use PHP to process an html form and kept receiving errors. I think I need to slow down a bit, my memory can’t keep up with the pace.

I finally have set time aside everyday to learn PHP. Sitepoint was running a special on web books to raise money for the Australian brush fires – buy 5 books in pdf for the price of one. So I snagged up a couple of PHP books in the mix. I’ve also subscribed to lynda.com and started with their PHP courses, which makes the learning process much easier.

I’ve just learned some basics of PHP. It’s quite easy. The rules are simple, although writing the code is a laborious task. It’s so easy to make a silly mistake, as in any programming language however.
I’ve done a commercial script for the site of my fiancé’s company (financial branch), which I also administer.
The script shows some reports (of the progress in ordered cases) to logged-in users (customers) that only they can see. You know, you log in, then it shows your cases, you choose one and then it shows the reports for that case. You can also change your password, log out:) and if you log-in as boss you have some forms to add new client, user, case or report. The data are in mysql.
Now I have to upgrade it and sell to other companies. Anyone interested?XD
Doing it, along with reading some pages of PHP book, took me some week. I will mark this task as done when I’ll read the whole book and make some other scripts.

I know a bit of PHP, but I want to learn more. I’m taking a course on Lynda.com, and it’s very helpful!

install from source onto a linux server and then start writing. reference php.net to answer questions.
Using the Visual Quickstart book on PHP and MySQL, I’m teaching myself PHP (and MySQL). A client wants a shopping cart in February, and I want to know PHP before I start digging into Zencart.
I’ve been building websites for 5 years now, and I have to get over this hump. Clients want shopping carts. Most shopping carts are PHP.
I also want to learn JavaScript and then AJAX, since AJAX is based on JS.
due to time constraints. I am going to pay someone to do it for me for my site.
