I just need to get focused 5 months ago

I’ve been dancing for 4 years and I fully intend to start teaching at some point, but I would like to have some solid training under my belt. The only set back I have right now is finances and location. I work part-time (i was full time but I cut back to be able to focus on my training, catch 22 right, lol) and I live in Ky so there is hardly ever anything nearby.

Im planning on signing up for her online classes and actually taking the time out to do the dvds of hers that I have (I got the whole set) and just focusing on what my goal is and staying motivated to so I can get my level 1 certification.

Well, I am on my way 14 months ago

Leaving to go to the workshop shortly. Been practicing my glutes off and doing lots of PT. Now it’s time to see what I’m made of!

A dancer whom I met at the last workshop I attended (and who encouraged me to test for certification) has been super supportive and has even offered to meet up to work out—-even though she lives in another state!

One of the things I love best about the Middle Eastern dance community is the sense of camaraderie that it has. I find this even more true of “Team Suhaila.”

A bit of a lone wolf 18 months ago

No one in my dance community is studying under Suhaila, so I am relying only on the DVDs and going on Tribe to read what people say there. I hope just keeping at it will be enough!

I’ve seriously amped up my cardio to build my endurance.

Working toward certification in September 20 months ago

For two years in a row, I’ve done workshops in Charlottesville with Suhaila. This past March, I had improved so much in the past year.

I had never considered getting certified because I am just a hobbyist, but a couple of her level 1 certified students encouraging me to do it, and I think that I will.

I really like that Suhaila’s technique is a strong foundation and is mindful of proper usage of the body. I would like to be able to take that body preservation into all aspects of my physical activity to protect me and give me longevity in physical activity.

I was certified level 1 but I had to let it lapse because of money and time issues. However I want to get started on this again!
