Bunnies ate my parsley and mint! That’s okay, I think I can bring them back – just need to move them up where they can’t be reached.
My snapdragons are dying, too, but it’s been abnormally hot the last few days and I didn’t water them (oops). It’s pouring rain today and I’m hoping that will revive them a little!

I could get philosophical and talk about the peace found in dirt and sunshine, or how it’s time to balance some of my consumption. Those things are both true. But at the heart of the matter – I just don’t want to be the neighbor with the crappy yard anymore, and I haven’t done anything but mow grass since I reached adulthood.
I’ve already potted some snapdragons (which were wilting this morning – hope I can fix that), and planted herbs, tomatoes, strawberries, spinach and zinnias. I need to finish weeding the flowerbed, plant my hostas, find a place to plant my rhododendron, and get my carrots and beans planted.

But I still want to grow plants. I have some in my office… I’d really like to care for them well, and grow herbs at home and maybe some things in containers. We don’t get much light at home, but I’d love to surround myself with pretty, interesting, and useful plants.

Food, catnip, aloe. But I’ve always had a knack for killing things. I have trouble remembering to water plants…

There are some slugs eating my plants. How do I get rid of slugs in a friendly way?
I do like the word slug. It’s so apt.

It’s all happening! There are tiny little carrot sprouts pushing out of the soil and the spinach is getting bigger and bigger. The mint is sprouting new leaves and the strawberry plant looks the same, not worse. V exciting.

I’ve potted the plants, and re-potted a mint plant that was getting too big for its pot. They all look quite cute, sitting there. Can’t wait til they grow. The strawberry plant is meant to have pink flowers and I bought a rosemary that is supposed to have pink flowers too, so it should look pretty in spring.

I just went to the garden shop and bought a strawberry plant, some English spinach seedlings and some carrot seeds and some pots to put them in. Hopefully I won’t kill them! If I’m successful at all, I’ll get some more; maybe some chilli and tomatoes and beans or something. I’m quite excited.

I’m back home now, so if only I could rouse myself from my lethargy I would go to the nursery and buy some things to grow. I’m thinking carrots, chilies, maybe something green and leafy. I have no garden at all, so everything would have to be in a pot. I’m thinking a lime tree might be cool too, seeing as limes are so expensive to buy.

Living in a box room with no garden, no balcony and no view has inspired in me a desire to grow things. I will have to wait until I get home though.
