The past couple of weeks haven’t been my best. I mean, I’ve been happy and enjoying spending lots of time with my husband… but I haven’t gotten much exercise or anything.

He’s trying to eat better and get more exercise, so this is good news for me. We’ve got healthy meals planned for the week and we even went jogging together on Saturday… Which means that we stepped on the path together and then he was ahead of me until we cooled down at the end. He can always run faster than me, being that he is 10” taller than me. No fair.

So I’m trying to do better than I was the past couple of weeks. I really hope to get to the farmer’s market this weekend to stock up on some fresh, local produce. There’s nothing like fresh fruits and veggies to keep me eating well. :) And since my husband is trying to get more exercise, I hope we can go jogging or hiking together this weekend. That would be nice.

Entering Week 3 1 year ago

Last week I did really well, for the most part. I met my exercise goal and I did manage to get out of bed early on Friday to go jogging before work. Although I indulged in brie and wine Friday night (thanks Robin!) I felt like I had earned it.

Yesterday I snapped a little and had pizza. A lot of it. I think I had 3 or 4 slices. That’s a lot for me. I was SO hungry and tired and I just didn’t want to worry about dinner. Plus, we were watching the Soprano’s and pizza just seems to go so well with Soprano’s. So that was a bit of an indulgence. I did go jogging yesterday, but I am not sure what amount of jogging it takes to burn off that much pizza (definitely much more jogging than what I did).

Anyway, the side-effect of the pizza has been a terrible headache, probably due to so much sodium. Whenever I eat things that cause some sort of a “hangover” I try to remember these things, in the hopes that next time I’ll either avoid the food altogether or at least eat a smaller portion. Pizza is not worth a 12-hour headache.

So this week’s goals mirror last week’s. Gym, gym and gym. Eat well. Drink tons of water. I am probably going to the beach this weekend and I want to get up early and go for a walk/jog on the beach. Sounds so nice! And it’s great exercise. :)

So far, so good 1 year ago

I met last week’s goal of getting to the gym Mon-Fri, and I also went hiking on Saturday with the husband and the dog. Yay! I have been sore ever since the hike, especially since I did leg weights on Friday. Being sore is painful, but in a good way. It’s a reminder that I am making progress. I treated myself to some new workout clothes as a reward.

This week my plan is to keep up with the healthy eating (sticking to WW Core Plan) and to go to the gym Mon-Thurs. If I can get out of bed early on Friday, I might go for a jog before work. Same for Saturday.

Then on Saturday, we get to be NPR dorks and attend All Things Festive. Assuming I’ve done well with my exercise and diet this week, I will treat myself to some sushi from Cafe Zen. YUM!

    Ugh... 1 year ago

The past couple of months have been BAD in terms of eating and exercise. Other than the past 2 weeks where I was traveling and doing the anniversary and husband birthday thing, I have no real excuse for the lack of exercise and the really poor diet.

I have NO idea how far over my goal weight I am. I’m guessing somewhere between 5-10 pounds. I’ll find out tomorrow when I drag myself back into my WW meeting, where I will have to pay ($7) each week until I get back down to my goal weight.

In order to keep myself on track with this, I’m gonna try to write an update each week. This week my goal is to go to the gym 5 days and do something fun on the weekend (hiking or jogging at a park maybe). I’m also focusing on eating less processed foods and getting back to the Weight Watchers Core foods. This weekend I am going to treat myself to some new gym clothes as a reward for getting back on track and as inspiration to keep going. I always like working out in nice gym clothes.

So there it is. Gotta lose the weight. Wish me luck.
