Every other weekday my mom’s friend and I go to the gym 3 times a week, every morning, at 7:30 am. It is the hardest thing in the world to wake up that early especially on the days when my classes start later on in the day, but we keep each other motivated to go! I love the discipline! Having a friend to go with really helps because you don’t want to let them down. You’re doing it for them as well as you.

How I did it: Well, I decided I really wanted to go back to the gym again and certain times of the year there are always no joining fee offers, so I thought I'd jump at the chance to get back into it again after 5 years. Womens gyms are the best, emotionally supportive and more hygenic, and best of all no inhibitions. Read how I did it… 2 years ago

It’s hard to get going at first, but eventually you get so used to the exercise and feeling fitter and healthier that you get into a rhythm. I’m now hooked on going to the gym rather than hooked on sugar and I feel better than I have for a long time. 5 years ago

I’m managing to go at least 5 days a week now, so I think this goal is done! I’ll close it and put a new fitness-related goal on.

Went back into the gym yesterday and had a good, if tiring, workout. Today is cycling day, and then Saturday is rest day (except I will be working in a friend’s garden, which is still exercising). On Sunday I plan to go for a five mile hike, if I can find a suitable one.
I feel so much better now I don’t just eat for the sake of it and am working out regularly. I haven’t noticed a lot of difference in the way I look physically, but I do feel thinner and my work jeans need to be buckled up tighter! 5 years ago

I still wasn’t right yesterday, but today’s looking a lot better and I did my ab workout this morning with no trouble (except that I could tell I hadn’t exercised them for 2 days). So, back to the gym today for a nice long rowing session. 5 years ago

I did 2 days in the gym last week (not bad for a start) and have been today, plus a 3 mile walk yesterday. So I’m getting a fair quota of exercise at the moment. Let’s hope the pounds start falling off soon! 5 years ago

I finally got back into the gym today and did a pretty good workout on the cyclical trainer, then did this workout I got on a DVD. It’s only 12 minutes long but it sure kills you. Feeling quite pleased with myself. 5 years ago

Well, I’ve been to the gym three times this week, and decided to start with cardio training (cross trainer and treadmill). ;o) I have set my mind on this and I will keep it up! I forgot how much better and relaxed I feel after training! :o) 6 years ago

I’m getitng to that dangerous stage where you think “Oh, I can’tbe arsed”. Yesterday I skipped my training session, so I have to go and train today and tomorrow. I won’t be at work tomorrow, so I’m going to doa home workout and then do my running training in the park. That’s not a bad thing, actually, because the 5K won’t be on a treadmill so some reality training will give me an idea of what it will really be like to run a 5K. 6 years ago

Yay! I have achieved this for one week. Today I did my second training session for the 5K. I was drenched with sweat when I’d finished and I am paying for it in terms of aching muscles, but it will be well worth it. I get 2 days’ rest from the gym now, then start again on Monday. I bought some new tracksuit bottoms for when I work out in the winter, though it’s still really hot at the moment, so I won’t need those for a while! 6 years ago
