Its a start!  — 1 month ago

Worth doing!

I am blessed to have alot of room in my rented home. The landlord had his “workshop” (which is an addition) with a giant table and a wall of shelves with a door that opens onto a patio/back yard. I knew immediately that I would make a studio out of it! I cleaned it out and put all of my art supplies in it. Its a bit hot because it isnt air conditioned, but a fan does the job! All I need is a wheel-but I do more sculpture work anyway, so I can wait on that. To most people this may not count as a studio, but its my special space where only art takes place- and no one other than me is allowed in there. ITS MY SANCTUARY!!! WOOHOO!!!

Worth doing!

It wasn’t worth it because I ended up not going into my studio hardly at all. It just wasn’t comfortable. So I say this, your studio should be whatever is comfortable to you. If your work requires a lot of space and organization, then go for it. But some people might feel more relaxed working at their kitchen table or in their wood shop. It’s all up to you. A studio was not necessary for me and that room is now in the process of becoming a lounge. ;)

Nice having your own space  — 5 months ago

Worth doing!

I have my own art studio. It is a spare bedroom with a desk, a chair, art supplies, and 2 windows. It’s really nice when I’m “in the groove” with a project and I don’t have to worry about any disturbances such as a tv.

It’s a great thing to do…you have to do it if you are working as an artist. If you are making the transition between hobby and career, having a studio let’s your family know that you are more serious about your work….and that your time, talent and supplies are deserving of their respect.

i would like it to be calm and uncluttered, but i just dont live like that. im a mess, i create a mess and get in a mess. im just messy. it makes me a relaxed mess though. i would just like a little place to put a big, old easel and all my paints and pastels. it also should have a good view, to inspire me. maybe it should be in france… muses...

Exploring a career in art  — 8 months ago

I’m in the start up phases of a career in art. I haven’t quite made it past the “this is my career goal” decision, but that’s because I’m procrastinating.

I hear about all the starving artist jokes and it’s rather upsetting. Eventually I’ll have an art studio if nothing more than just for me.

My idea of an art studio is a tranquility space I can retreat to, with a gentle water sounds (like a small waterfall or something), very soft nature sound music, and a quiet place (not background noise) I don’t like caos.

I would like a roomy place that isn’t cluttered; and it has storage space so all the stuff isn’t laying around my work space.

kitchen cum art studio  — 1 year ago

I believe in unconventional method in making art but I dont think the place I got right now is appropriate.
