51:22.7 in the Sporting Life 10K which I ran on May 6th. I think I can do this!

I ran Runnex 10-miler today, and timed when I reached 10k, and I finally broke the sub-50 min barrier. I clocked 10k at 49 mins, and finished 10-miles (~15k) at 1:15:40. I started at 58 mins for a 10k last December, and after 5 months of training, shaved off 9 mins.
March 11, ‘07: Adidas King of The Road, my official time was 44:58, my own time was 47mins, BUT THE ROUTE WAS ONLY 9.3k!!! So… i don’t consider myself to finish less than 50 mins.
Today (Feb 25, ‘07) – i ran a 10k race in 52:09 mins. Based on my polar watch, the route was 10.4k. Also, I wasn’t in good condition due to barely 2 hrs of sleep the night before after a stag party, and my lungs filled with 2nd hand smoke from around 15 guys in one room. The day before that, I came home 4am, after a celebration, barely got 5 hrs sleep, very tired from setting up sound system and running the acoustic battle of the bands that night. These are excuses why I didn’t finish less than 50 mins (hehe), but I am confident that at most by May (on the New Balance Power Race), I will finish 10k in less than 50 mins, if not before that ;-)
Jan 14, ‘07 – I ran 4.6k in 23 mins, if I interpolate to 5k, it will be less than 25 mins. I little more training and I might be able to do 10k in less than 50 mins.
I ran 51:48 in today’s New Balance Power Race 2006… almost there! http://www.43things.com/entries/view/854929
Did 2 half marathons and 1 15k race this year and it’s time to get back to my goal – 10k in 50 minutes (new target: 47 mins). I’ve enrolled in a 10K “speed race” (single turning point, all flat terrain course) which will be held on March 12. I could do 5:00/k with no problems and am shooting for 4:40-45/k to get a better 10K result.
My 21 and 15K races required some endurances and it’s time to start my interval training to build up speed.
From May 2004. I may only have one 10K race this summer, so not sure I can do this one this year, but it’s definitely a goal.
