I got my labret done about 5 months ago now. It did hurt, but not too bad (just made my eyes water). I had no swelling at all, and the pain stopped pretty much after he’d put the stud through. It just felt a bit odd sorta hanging there…
I did wake up a few times the next couple of nights where I kept knocking it in my sleep though (ouchy).
It was difficult to eat with before I got used to it. Because the bar was so long it kept catching on my teeth when I was trying to eat (another ouch xD), so I had to eat really slow lol. After a couple of weeks I’d got the hang of it.
I didn’t use any special stuff on it, just soaked it in hot salty water twice a day. Thats all you need. Try to use sea or rock salt though, as normal table salt can irritate the wound (has too much of something in it – can’t remember what). I’ve never had any problems with it at all.
Just make sure the piercing studio you go to is clean, and ask as many questions as you like. They should be happy to alleviate any fears you have. Be warned though, piercing is addictive….

I ended up getting my labret pierced a few days ago.
It didn’t hurt originally when they did the actually piercing.
Now, however, it hurts like hell. :[
It is incredibly difficult to eat and my lip is swollen as hell.
Despite the pain, I love it.
I’m sure it’s worth it in the long run.

I did it!! I love it to death. It already healed and now I wear a stud. It was painless. I did it myself, no complications, but I wouldn’t recommend doing it yourself. I’m in love with it <3 I can't say it enough.I love it so much that I got 2 more piercings on my lip, I got snakebites! If you really want a labret piercing I say go for it, you won't regret it <3

I was in a valium induced trance when I went to the dodgy piercers in Miraflores, Lima.
“Quieres piercing o tatu?” he said.
“Es de… quiero un ‘piercing’ pero yo no se… puedas mostrarme las possibilidades?”
“Uhuh. Gringo, I have good piercing. You like”
“Ah su…!” having just seen the photo of the poor girl with a inner vaginal barbell. Lovely, I thought.
So he sits me down in the grubbiest dentist chair. He takes my lip and skewers it with a fishhook-like thing and this jet of blood squirts just about everywhere.
“Is good?”
“Es bien doloroso!”
“Es asi porque eres gringo debil. Tienes que ser un macho.”
“Here is $20, you cheeky fuck.” with that, I left.
It went something along those lines. My parents will hate it, I think it is rather nice. I have to swill saltwater three times a day, and smear the outside with some freaked up antibiotico. Otherwise, it wasn’t that hard.
Hectic.

Ive done it and it was all worth it I dont even remember the pain now all I have to do is take extremely good care of it and now I know I will never regret what I did and I think that anyone who wants to get it done or any piercing I suggest they go for it cause in the end you will see its worth it even the pain.

I had this piercing done in a dodgy little piercing “studio” in Aberdeen, Scotland. I had problems with it healing. The bar the guy used was too short. Top bloke though. Ended up having drinks with him a few weeks later.
