Well, it’s slow going, but I’ve started purchasing savings bonds each month. Hopefully that’ll help me eventually have enough to open some kind of IRA
How I did it: I got a shiny new 401K as part of the new corporate job's benefits. Thanks goodness for default conditions and knowledgeable HR people, because I still have no idea what I'm doing.

beelikethebug is here! Woo!
So I finally did it! This is one of the first goals I put on here, and it’s just been sitting here. So I started a 403(b). I feel so much better!

So I really didn’t want to put this goal on my list. Actually, I really dread thinking about it. But I suppose those are the ones that you have to be the most conscious about-the hardest, yet probably most necessary ones. So I hope I start this soon…I know that I probably will not be able to count on receiving SSI or some kind of pension when I’m old, and I worry about money enough now-I don’t want to worry about it when I’m old. Retirement is when you’re supposed to have the time to do what you want, which is what I intend to do!
adiamichelle is somehow managing to take one photo a day. It feels good.
As soon as my state refund comes in I’m using it to set up a Roth IRA.
My SIMPLE IRA kicked in with last Friday’s paycheck. I took the full available benefit: I contribute 3% of my weekly pay and my employer matches it. The best part is that this will only affect my weekly take-home pay by about $20, and I can breathe a little bit easier now knowing that maybe I won’t have to work til I’m 70 after all.
i’ve got a pretty good savings, but nothing specifically set aside for retirement. i work part time/am self employed so i don’t have an employer taking care of my pension, like i used to when i was working full time. i think this year i should open an IRA.

I have no idea what I’m doing with my finances. I really need to start saving, though.
It was a pain but I finally got my retirement set up through work. I’m not naturally a financial kind of person, so it was intimidating and unpleasant, but luckily my husband is great with finances and he helped me do it.
I think this is complete. I contribute the max on my 401k which my company matches 50%. I think a more appropriate goal would be “start and maintain a savings account.” Yup. That’s what i’m going to do.
Right now at the company I am employed at I have a 401k. I figure this is a good step. They do a 50% match on whatever I contribute so this is also very good. Now if only I could start a savings account I would rock.
