I fast one day a week and have done so for over a year 8 months ago

I decided a year ago to try to fast one day a week. It was one of the best things I have done. There is something great about fasting once a week. It clears my head and my body. I feel great on Mondays, which is when I usually fast. Occasionally, I’ll fast for 2 days because if feels great.

There was a period of about 3 months where I fasted for an entire day (around 36 hours) once a week, every week. I felt good, and I also felt such control over my life.

My method: eat a regular sized dinner the night before (smaller is healthier when it comes to dinner), drink nothing but water and healthy juice until the next full day has past, then eat a regular sized breakfast the morning of the next day (bigger is healthier when it comes to breakfast).

You gotta love the breakfast and “break fast” relationship. I recommend it to all.

Update on the Sunday fast... 2 years ago

My stomach has been upset due to nerves, so I did break down and ate cereal at 5pm… to try to calm my stomach…not sure if I’ll try this again until my stomach is more stable. My ex-fiance moved out on Saturday, so I’m hoping things will calm down for me now…

I think Sunday will be the best day for fasting for me…maybe I’ll cleanse myself for the work week ahead by not eating on Sundays. This Sunday will be my first time trying this. Wish me luck!

I used to think fasting was for …uhhh well, not for me. Why on earth would anyone not eat? I had a hard time missing one meal! But then over a period of a few months, a kept meeting people who fasted and explained to me why they did so. A Muslim friend explained fasting for Ramadan and that really clinched the idea, but still…I was weak…then I learned about detoxing and cleaning out the system and so I tried a fruit fast…only taking fruit and fruit juice during the day and felt great. Now I try to do a juice fast once a week. It’s good for my body but mostly I appreciate the effects it has on my mind. I feel calmer and more in control. I feel clear and colours even seem brighter. I learn everytime that i need less to live on, not more.

fasted again yesterday. wasn’t really that hard. plenty of liquids. lots of coffee with creamer. only had a few minor hunger pangs. was down a pound this morning…yay!!! had v-8 juice, water with lemon, hot herbal tea,orange juice. read my complete idiots guide to fasting. very helpful



Bought book 4 years ago

bought the Complete Idiot’s Guide to Fasting. Great Book. talks about fasting, spirituality, and meditation, and different ways to fast. I plan to fast once a week.managed to semi fast the other day. the only deviation was i had creamer in my coffee. other than that…stuck to v-8 juice, herbal teas, water with lemon juice, diet cokes.
